Lookup the number of layoffs and closures Ubisoft has done, and look at how many hours of crunch theyve put humans through. So please forgive me if i dont have empathy for such folks, applies to all top level execs

Your intentions are good. If it got that bad I'd be right there protesting along side you, however I really don't see this growing out of control (plus governments rarely get ahead of suspected issues). If you ask me the movement already succeeded because their voice was heard among developers. The industry crash will likely shed more Studios, online services with it, but I suspect it will result in a course correction for future games.

@DeveloperDob @Pirat_Nation You call it edge cases, I call it precedents, and I don't think is dishonest to point at it. Everything starts from and exception and then becomes the rule when somehow it works and no one stops it in time. And yes, I disagree with your point of view, but I don't need your help.

Update on Stop Killing Games: Ross Scott responds to the EU setback. The European Commission said it does not plan to introduce new laws requiring game publishers to keep games playable after support ends. Instead, it pointed to existing consumer protection laws. > Stop Killing Games founder Ross Scott said the response was mostly expected and told supporters not to lose hope. He argued that relying on existing laws creates uncertainty, as there is still no clear answer on publishers’ legal obligations when shutting down games. > Scott said the campaign still has other options, including pushing for changes through the upcoming Digital Fairness Act, and that the initiative has strong support in the European Parliament. > According to Scott, the European Commission is currently the biggest obstacle, but he stressed the campaign is far from over and urged supporters to focus on the next steps.

And that's not right and it should be corrected by the company (not saying it's okay), but you and I know these are edge cases... it would be dishonest to say otherwise. Boycott or review bomb the company if you wish, my point is to not burden the entire industry and risk gov overreach for the needs of a few outliers. If you disagree with that statement I can't help ya.

@DeveloperDob @Pirat_Nation Just watch the news about Square-Enix dropping the cloud version of the Kingdom Hearts games that people paid, and they're not going to be fully compensated for it. They paid for a game, and the company it's going to take it down and replacet for another version, and charge them.

Don't get me wrong, I'm for some aspects the movement, I just think government intervention is a very short-sighted way of solving it. Governments rarely give back power and opens the doors to messy regulation. Also 1mil of 55-77 mil active euro gaming users is still a minority. I haven't seen anything that suggests the average player is affected by this campaign. I believe a vast majority of players play a game for a week or two and move on. I'd love to see some stats that prove me wrong. And if it's a battle of principle, that doesn't hold water in an industry that's currently crashing.

@DeveloperDob @Pirat_Nation Dude, we are talking about Europe, not the whole world. Only european citizen could sign the SKG request. Also the scope of SKG can't be so big because they can't reach every single person. This have been acknowleged mainly by gaming communities, not general people.

@Josh_Cell_Games @Pirat_Nation For argument sake, let's say you're correct that most didn't hear about the movement and word eventually spreads. You'd still need something like 100 or 200 million signatures to make this a bit more representative of what the average gamer cares about.

@DeveloperDob @Pirat_Nation The movement went forward because they managed to reunite more than a million signatures from European citizens, so it's not a minority taking into account that many people didn't heard about the movement ever. Stop talking like this is just on interest of a few dudes.
