@DaimyoCracy NORAD exists to protect USA from threats, by using Canadian surveillance and territory. The only threat to Canada is from foes trying to strike USA. USA doesn’t even recognize Canadian sovereignty in the Arctic let alone defend it. NATO exists to defend US interests.

CANADA HAS NEVER relied on USA to defend us from harm. We cooperated to benefit us both. And we TRUSTED USA not to stab us in the back. That was a mistake. Never again. The billions we’re now pumping into defence are needed, in large part, to defend us from the actions of USA.

@towhey How about all those Russian bombers that routinely fly around the arctic and west coast?! They’re usually met with US fighters and maybe Canada will join in. Canada’s little fleet of frigates isn’t stopping anyone either. You know NOTHING about military capabilities.

And importantly, cooperation. Finding paths forward that work for BC, Alberta and all of Canada. This is what Mark Carney ran and won on.
