Not defending the use of AI itself, but making anything more out of the Scorsese debacle than "83-year-old man uses a new tool to make storyboarding easier for him" seems silly

@kasey__moore Some do have to do with quality, the second seasons for many hit shows can’t capture the magic of the first ( even Severence and the Pitt - whose viewership grew but s2‘s drew more criticism) the dump doesn’t help either, I can promise s2 of Knight of 7 kingdoms will be bigger

The last time a sophomore season gained viewership was back in 2023 with Ginny & Georgia. I don't think it's any one reason. Marketing seems like the lazy answer imo, but could just be shifting habits or just a fact of life, and we're just noticing it more. Time differences between seasons haven't helped historically, although comedy proves that doesn't always matter... I also don't think Netflix's UI does a particularly good job of highlighting new shows or even alerting you to them when they drop. A lot is assumed you're plugged in and following them on social media, which is all algorithm-based.
