THE ODYSSEY works best when diving into thematic discussions of the hero’s journey, making for intriguing narrative commentary. Nolan’s spectacle is also clunky in execution, struggling to create a consistent momentum in the episodic structure. A mixed bag of what to admire.

So crazy to me that the director’s cut of Troy uses Danny Elfman’s Planet of the Apes score during the Achilles vs. Hector fight. Must have been the temp track when editing the scene but wild to have it in a final cut.
