With this I think it is a good time to announce! If you haven't noticed, I have been gone for the last few months because I was making a decision. Here is the result. I am taking a step back from live streaming to pursue other areas of expression. I will occasionally pop in for collabs with my friends, which I will announce and maybe the occasional stream when I feel like it. Perhaps only for events. Why? I am simply tired. There is way too much going on in my personal life to be devoted to spending my very limited amount of free time on something that doesn't advance what I want. That, and on top of the platform really wanting to shoot itself in the foot like it has been doing. What am I going to do instead? Making music is on my agenda as well as ACTUALLY getting some writing together. I also plan to be helping others with their own projects behind the scenes. If you have liked what I have done and interested in what I plan to do it would be a great help to follow me here or on my many other platforms for updates. (I will post where to find them in the comments) Please bear with me as I try to figure out how to get myself out there in a visible way and feel free to give me ideas. Lastly to everyone who has supported me, thank you for the awesome year of streaming last year. I truly enjoyed seeing a lot of the regulars in chat and we did a lot better than I expected in that time. Truly blessed. With that I am closing the doors of the Quill and Thorne for now. May your stories find an ear willing to listen. Sprout and I will see you all again really soon!

things i, an american, have learned from europeans on twitter about my own country that are news to me: -we don’t go outside -we don’t have humidity -the whole country is a desert -we don’t have bakeries -we don’t have passports -we say “parsta” -we don’t have produce in our grocery stores -we don’t have bread -we can’t hang our clothes outside to dry -there is more biodiversity in belgium than the entire US (lol) -we can’t walk outside what am i missing ?

@DevilonVT @voltdust @distiny4919 That doesn't change the fact that artists face the same risks. If they don't get enough clients, they can't pay for food or rent. You are not insured and as a self-employed artist you have to pay for many things yourself.

People often complain that buying commissions is expensive, but they seem to forget that it’s not just a product - it’s a service. For example, if you order a $50 commission and the artist takes 10 days to draw it, that means their labor is only $5 a day. 😂😂😂

@distiny4919 @TuuliFeather @voltdust I think you deserve whatever people are willing to pay you. Hopping on the bandwagon of people virtue signaling to perform for others isn't a good look.

@DevilonVT @voltdust @distiny4919 You're talking about things that aren't true at all. I know so many artists who can't afford any kind of luxury, and their jobs aren't as secure as a 9-to-5 job. Both are work, both are hard, and both deserve fair pay—it's that simple.

Taking commissions through Vgen is amateur work. There are some pros with one but it's not a professional gig. I don't have a hate boner for artists at all you just want to project one on me and find something to be angry about because I dared criticize some delusional thing that was said.

So it doesn't work; we pay for the training and development of artists' skills If you're not willing to pay for that, then teach yourself and draw it yourself

The deceitful part is artists marking their base price down and then upcharging in fees. This used to be a lot worse when artists would take a payment and then hold everything hostage until they got their licensing fee for whatever arbitrary reason they believed you needed to pay one. It's actually why vgen has the forms with licensing now.

And again if you don't make the revenue then don't commussion merch to be made, focus on cheaper stuff to build your brand, build a client base first, this is not a charity.

@DevilonVT there's an argument to be made that anything related to a brand or commercial entity is promotional. cool art on tl -> check them out -> new sub. but the language on the site itself is so inconsistent that i would always ask the artist themselves what they're comfy with

buy a stream asset for $150, $75 of which is an extra fee. then earn thousands from your stream. it's a one-time payment for (usually) indefinite usage. the alternative is giving an artist a % of every dollar you earn ? 😭 you are making money including OTHER PEOPLE'S WORK

But some artists decide to give lower prices to clients who do not generate revenue with it. It's not that hard to understand, is it?
