Sudanese Man Arrested For Attacking Local Woman In Skegness. A 25 year old man from Sudan has been arrested after a woman in her 40s was assaulted in the North Parade area of Skegness. Lincolnshire Police confirmed last night that the attack happened on April 26 and they are now actively investigating whether it was sexually motivated. The suspect remains on police bail while officers work to establish the exact circumstances. The County Hotel, a old building at the heart of the strip has for years been one of several taxpayer funded sites used to accommodate asylum seekers, with numbers sometimes reaching 60 or more. Locals have repeatedly claimed the policy has turned parts of the town into a no-go zone, with businesses suffering, families cancelling holidays, and women feeling unsafe walking the seafront after dark. The decision to bail the suspect has only deepened the sense of anger and distrust. In their statement, Lincolnshire Police said: "We can confirm that an investigation is active and still ongoing into the assault of a woman aged in her 40s, which is believed to have taken place in the area of North Parade in Skegness on April 26. We are investigating whether this incident was sexually motivated in nature and officers are working hard to establish the exact circumstances involved. A man, aged 25 from Sudan, has been arrested in connection with this incident and remains on police bail at this time." This is not the first time the County Hotel has been linked to serious sexual allegations involving residents. In June 2023, Egyptian asylum seeker Saad Gomaa, 33, who arrived in Britain by small boat from France just 40 days earlier, was charged with raping a local woman in nearby Tower Gardens. The woman was drunk after consuming two bottles of vodka and in no fit state to consent when she was attacked in the park. The case sparked immediate fury in Skegness, with locals and businesses protesting the use of prime seafront hotels to house asylum seekers. The suspect in the latest case, the 25 year old Sudanese asylum seeker who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested immediately after the attack. He has not been charged and remains on bail. The victim has not been named and police have given no details of her injuries or the exact nature of the assault beyond confirming it took place.
