@Engr_Who @gorakhvacha As per the old story, Vigrah was moved from the south to Khed and then to Nagana, thus the Devi took its name from the village.

@gorakhvacha Most likely village was already known as Nagana hence the name and when the earlier vigrah got lost during war or occupation, the deity was reimagined after the new name.

The shyena identification of the avian riding chakreshwari is understandable, but what explains her serpentine reimagination in the rathore realm as nagnechya? Further, I believe rajasthan is the jaina piece in the 4 part puzzle of the origin of kaulas 🙂

Very interesting! One of the members of the Jasol family, one of the prominent Rathore families in Marwar went to Karnataka to get the Jyoti of Cakreśvarī, apparently the "original" Puranic form of the Kuldevi of Rathores.
