The First Presidency has announced new age-group names for young women—names that reflect their identity, growth, and purpose. The new age-group names are: • Builders of Faith (young women turning 12 or 13) • Messengers of Hope (young women turning 14 or 15) • Gatherers of Light (young women turning 16 or older) Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman said the spiritual significance of the names became especially clear to her during a recent visit with young women in Tahiti. “As the girls sang, I was inspired to think of these covenant-keeping young women whose purpose and mission would be to build faith, share hope, and gather and reflect light around the world,” President Freeman said. “My eyes teared up as I realized the Spirit had been leading this process all along, inspiring names of faith, hope, and light that would help God’s daughters live as disciples of Christ and prepare them to enter a lifelong sisterhood of charity—the Relief Society.” Learn more by visiting the link below: newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/young-…

Not a bad way to celebrate a birthday. Took the day off to hike in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Alum Cave trail. Hard 2.5 miles up but beautiful views from the cave. We even saw a momma bear and cubs.

You may vote for a democrat that is personally opposed to abortion (if there’s such a thing), but by doing so you are supposed empowering the party that holds abortion as a critical platform issue.

people can argue about the reasons for this, but the leadership of the church (and President Oaks in particular) have long been troubled by the partisan imbalance among the membership of the church, lessening the GOP chokehold on the membership is a good thing

@bmariner @Matthewthewalk1 @jkimballcook It’s unavoidable because the political parties themselves do not align their positions with the Gospel. I always vote, but never along party lines. I consider candidates individually, as I do political issues.

@jkimballcook I believe it has everything to do with the two parties no longer honestly representing positions aligned with the Gospel. We are being prepared to hold less tightly to the identities built around the spiraling parties so we aren't swept up into the obvious hatred for each other.

@kelandren3 @coininfish I’m the RS President in our ward, and we always do a 10-minute counseling topic. We’ve had many meaningful and positive conversations during that time. I’m kinda sad to see it end.

@coininfish Does your RS do the council at the beginning? I'm in the stake rs and some wards I visit take 20 minutes just doing that. I wonder if they will take that aspect away... Will be interesting to see.

Honestly, as an RS President, I’ve been having trouble getting some new teachers to keep a lesson/ discussion going for a full hour.
This change will
1.) Allow more opportunities for RS members to teach and
2.) Put less pressure on them to hit a full 50 minute lesson

@mikekofoed Going to miss the counseling together in Elder’s quorum. It’s been one of the most impactful things to our members to get to know one another and to share their feelings around a relevant topic, etc. The shortened time definitely cuts that out.

Changed my opinion this morning. Sold on the new youth curriculum coming out. On second thought, I love the idea of a class focused on doctrine and then another on praxis. Also benefits of consistency.

In advance of the upcoming general conference leadership session (April 2, 2026), The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced upcoming adjustments to the Sunday class meeting schedule to support members in their efforts to be lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. The adjustments will strengthen gospel learning in homes and congregations throughout the world. Beginning September 6, 2026, the alternating weekly schedule for Sunday School and quorum or class meetings will be replaced. Under the updated schedule: • Sunday School, Relief Society, elders quorum, Young Women and Aaronic Priesthood quorum meetings will be held each week. • Sacrament meeting will continue to be 60 minutes, followed by brief transition periods. • Sunday School and quorum and class meetings will each be 25 minutes. • Primary will continue every Sunday and will be 55 minutes, held while adults and youth attend their respective classes. • Where local circumstances necessitate, units may begin with Primary and quorum and class meetings and conclude with sacrament meeting. I think I just got my last cat pic from my missionary. 😭 He sends me one anytime he sees a cat because he knows it makes me happy. I’m super sad that this era is ending, but also so happy he will be home in 3 weeks!
