@cliffcornell_ I paid cash for master’s in accounting to be able to sit for the CPA exams when I was in my 20s and now most states have changed the rules so you don’t need a graduate degree to take the exams

@bsuecannon That’s a good system. I’ve heard about your scheduling, and wondered what happened if a client didn’t provide all documents by the date they chose. If they still don’t provide documents after a week when you start prepping the return, do you just keep annoying them until they do?

That’s the worst. This is what we do to fix that problem (for most returns). The day after their tax document delivery date, one of our employees goes through the tax documents they dropped off and compares them to their tax documents from the prior year. If anything appears to be missing, they make a list and show the preparers, and we tell them what tax docs to ask for. So, by the time we start preparing the return (usually a week or two after their tax document delivery date) we have all the tax documents to prepare the tax return.
