Any idea that Hollywood was historically biased towards movies about men is a rewriting of history. Hollywood movie-making from the 1920s to the 50s was very female-centric. Such ideas are pushed by people who have never seen any of the movies of Garbo, Clara Bow, Marlene Dietrich, Dorothy Mackaill, Kay Francis, Claudette Colbert, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Jean Harlow, Carole Lombard, Hedy Lamarr, Gene Tierney, Lizabeth Scott or Ida Lupino. They've probably never seen any of Elizabeth Taylor's movies!

@d4doome It's been my belief that she effectively acted as her own director regarding handling actors & scripts and she definitely was in charge of sets & costumes. But as a former stage performer she probably left handling camera work to someone else. (1)

@mattvanswol Outside of Appalachia & the Ozarks the biggest audience for traditional Bluegrass & Old Time Country music is in liberal cities. You definitely won't find any of this on conservative New Country radio. You know where you will? The PBS & campus radio stations conservatives hate.
