When I was facing terrible anti-black racism in the Midwest as a kid, if someone had told me I'd later defend white people against anti-white racism, I'd have thought they were insane. The past ten years I've done exactly that. These refugees are in genuine danger due to anti-white racism in South Africa. They'll come in, work hard, obey the law and contribute to whatever community accepts them. I know this because I've gotten to know quite a few white South Africans in Australia and Europe. Every white person who put a black square on Insta and sent money to BLM is part of this destructive campaign. People like me have to speak up as a moral obligation. A 24-year-old DoorDash driver was shot in the back in Chester, New York, just for trying to ask for directions. His phone had died, he didn’t speak much English, and he was just trying to do his job. The shooter was a federally licensed firearms dealer and also the town’s highway superintendent. Let that sink in. Stuff like this makes the rest of us look bad. This is not what responsible gun ownership looks like. It’s paranoid, it’s violent, and it’s exactly the kind of behavior that fuels anti-gun arguments. Gun ownership is about protecting life and defending yourself when there is a real threat. Not about firing at someone who looks confused and doesn’t speak the same language as you. The gun community needs to start getting louder about calling out people like this. If we say we care about responsibility, then we actually need to show it. That means saying no to people who treat a gun like a license to intimidate or harm. It means refusing to defend actions that have nothing to do with safety and everything to do with fear and prejudice. We don’t need more people like that in this community. We need more people who understand the weight of carrying a gun. If you can’t control your fear or your ego, you shouldn’t have one. This kind of culture doesn’t just make us look bad. It endangers real people, including people just trying to make a living. If you’re serious about gun rights, then you should be just as serious about keeping people like this as far away from guns as possible.

We often hear passionate emotional speeches and I applaud that, but this is a forensic dismantling of a woman who arrogantly thinks she and the administration she belongs to are above the law. THEY ARE NOT. Kristi Noem attended the hearing intent on being obstructive and dismissive and Chris Murphy gave her a masterclass in the constitutional responsibilities of government.
