@CoachWindley 100% agree. Scholarship kills community game. Last season we had 7 at KR/FC. Training nights were constantly changed so never had a full team to train. This is unfair on the non-schlorship lads who couldn't get the training they deserved. Messed the season up totally.

Right then and I am now. Remove scholarship and identify talent at a later age. Giving them longer at community clubs will grow the clubs and give the late developers a better chance of success. Service area, regional camps, N camps with all community coaches present.Tell IMG

Our game needs a plan for what RFL looks like in 5,10 and 20 years time. First thing Super League/RFL should do for game development,player development and player welfare is to bring back reserve’s.

They do it in schools too, our young people are just numbers, stats. OFSTED do it with schools and now we've seen it with the SL academies. Data is important. But we need to remember the human element when considering decisions which have long term human ramifications.😔

@BenCockayne83 Is it better to try and fail, rather than not to try at all? Give kids a chance and let them prove themselves. The majority don't make it as in all sports but don't deny them the opportunity.

Well if nothing else the rfl have managed to unite the rugby league community this weekend. The support of the academy system seems to be unanimous. Maybe that was the ploy all along! Well played rfl, well played. That's how I'd be spinning it anyway!

After speaking to Bradford and Hull Kingston Rovers this afternoon it's clear that they believe they must fight the decision to remove their Academies until every channel available to them has been exhausted. This story won't go away and they'll be more in the coming days.
