My goodness --- every once in a while one of y'all sends me a photo that makes me jealous, and this is one of those. As y'all may know, I'm a HUGE fan of Texas guitar legend Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. TOT reader Stephen Doc Watson thoughtfully shared this photo of himself chauffeuring Gatemouth around Houston in Gatemouth's Cadillac Coupe de Ville outside of Rockefeller's club --- a legendary venue, indeed. Gatemouth was Stehen's musical godfather. JUST TOO MUCH! If you want to do some jamming today, go to your favorite musical streaming platform, put on the Roy Clark/Gatemouth Brown collaboration, and bliss out.
Thank you, Stephen. As I say, I'm jealous!

Enemy Mine (1985). This went hugely over budget as original producer Stephen Friedman left the project due to creative differences, so Wolfgang Petersen had to do extensive reshoots when he took over as a new director.
It's based on the Hugo and Nebula award winning 1979 novella by Barry B. Longyear, with a few tweaks to add more drama to the end. And it's a great tale: rivalry becomes friendship and then duty between stranded enemies Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett Jr.
But it didn't set the box office alight despite an extensive marketing campaign. Which is a shame, because it's a really enjoyable movie with a strong sci-fi pedigree and it's quite touching. The score by Maurice Jarre is exceptionally good too.

Stephen king explains why "The Changeling" (1980) is one of his favourite horror movies of all time:
"For supernatural horror, I like Peter Medak’s film 'The Changeling' (1980), starring George C. Scott in perhaps his last great screen role. There are no monsters bursting from chests; just a child’s ball bouncing down a flight of stairs was enough to scare the daylights out of me."
("This 1980s Psychological Horror "Scared the Daylights" Out of Stephen King", Tim McClelland. Movieweb, 2026)
P.S: On this day, 46 years ago, "The Changeling" (1980) premiered at the USA Film Festival.
