The entire Boriswave will be entitled to Pension Credit IF they obtain ILR. Care workers who arrived in their 40s/50s and have never earned a salary >£30k will all be eligible, along with their spouses. This should be a first order concern if you're worried about pension spend.

On this day in 1982, Argentine forces invaded the Falkland Islands, triggering one of the most significant conflicts in modern British military history.
In the early hours of 2 April 1982, a small detachment of just 57 Royal Marines from Naval Party 8901, supported by a handful of Royal Navy personnel and local militia, mounted a determined defence of Government House in Stanley.
Vastly outnumbered and facing overwhelming odds, these elite commandos loaded up and fought with characteristic professionalism and courage before the islands came under Argentine occupation. No doubt many a joke was had while trying to repel the invading force.
What followed was an extraordinary response:
Britain assembled a Task Force and dispatched thousands of troops to the South Atlantic. Over 3,500 Royal Marines and soldiers of 3 Commando Brigade played a central role in the campaign.
They froze their proverbial tits off, yomped across rugged terrain carrying heavy loads, and fought a series of hard-fought battles to liberate the islands.
The conflict ended on 14 June 1982 with the recapture of Stanley and the raising of the British flag once more.
It came at a high cost:
255 British personnel lost their lives during the campaign, including 27 Royal Marines. Many more were wounded, and thousands carried the physical and mental scars for years afterwards.

Let me get this right.
An MP, whose husband is being investigated for allegedly spying, on behalf of China, was having an affair with a naval officer from the Faslane naval base?
I'm sure that just coincidental, right?
We are also to believe that giving China a super-embassy in London, is in any way a good idea?
Moreover, we are to believe that @UKLabour is doing anything to the benefit of the UK?!
Joani Reid, Labour MP for East Kilbride and Strathaven, whose husband David Taylor faces allegations of spying for China since his March 2026 arrest, is reported to have had inappropriate conduct with nuclear submarine personnel.
The first incident occurred during a 2025 visit to Faslane naval base, where Reid allegedly became extremely drunk and overly familiar with a senior officer, prompting early exit from the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme and reports to parliamentary authorities over fears of sensitive information leaks.
A separate recent case involves flirtatious messages with a married nuclear submarine captain, who stepped back from duties; while no rules were broken, both incidents amplify scrutiny on Reid's access to UK defence sites amid her husband's denied espionage charges.
