Using Public Relations to tell Uganda’s positive story. Shaping a balanced and positive narrative about #Uganda requires intentional collaboration and professional storytelling from all stakeholders involved. That is why @PRAU_Uganda recently engaged with the Uganda Media Centre, including a productive meeting with the Executive Director, @kasujja, and his team. The discussion focused on strengthening strategic communication efforts that highlight Uganda’s progress, opportunities, and unique strengths. As a professional body for communicators, @PRAU_Uganda brings together PR and Communications professionals across the country. We share a responsibility to amplify credible, constructive, and forward-looking stories about our organisations, companies, entities, and, ultimately, our country at large. This engagement marks an important step toward aligning efforts to promote a more accurate and inspiring national image. Together, we can tell Uganda’s story more effectively, build stronger professional capacity, and position Uganda positively within the global community. @PRAU_Uganda @UgandaMediaCent @kasujja @GovUganda @CHRISBARYOMUNS1

In his remarks at the release of the Uganda Aquaculture Census (UAC) Report 2025, Dr. Chris N. Mukiza noted that this is Uganda’s first Aquaculture Census, setting a precedent on the continent, as no other National Statistical Office in Africa has undertaken a comprehensive census of this nature. He highlighted that the report provides up-to-date statistics on the structure of the aquaculture sector, including distribution patterns, stock production, and extension services, to support planning for food security, income generation, and value addition. #UBOS #UACReport2025 #DataForDevelopment #EvidenceBasedStatistics

Public Statement The Uganda Bureau of Statistics has noted with concern of the misleading information circulating on social media alleging that the Executive Director, Dr. Chris Mukiza, attempted to shoot at Hon. Moses Kamuntu. The Bureau wishes to state that there was no such attempt. The claims are false, baseless, and malicious, intended to damage the reputation of the Executive Director and the Bureau. The general public is advised to disregard the false reports. #UBOS #DataForDevelopment

“ Reliable data is not merely a technical requirement it is a strategic national asset that enables informed decision making across Government, the Private Sector, Civil society and Development Partners to make informed decisions that directly improve the livelihoods and drive national transformation,” Dr. Albert Byamugisha (@AlbertByamugis1), UBOS Board Chairman said at the opening of the dissemination workshop of the Labour Market Survey Report 2025. Quality statistics are the backbone of effective governance and development planning. Over 70% of Uganda’s labour force operates within the informal sector. From the recent data, youth unemployment and underemployment remain a significant challenge. While women actively participate in the labour force, they are still under represented in the formal and higher income employment. These realities underscore the urgent need for targeted evidence-based interventions. #UBOS #DataForDevelopment #EvidenceBasedStatistics #LabourMarketSurvey2025

“This dissemination of the Labour Market Survey Report 2025 marks the 5th in a series of disseminations that have conducted since mid-March, reflecting the Bureau’s commitment to sharing timely and relevant statistical data and information,” said Dr. Chris N. Mukiza. He noted that the recently disseminated National Population and Housing Census 2024 – Community Module Report provides important insights on community-level facilities and services, and encouraged stakeholders to engage with its findings. The Labour Market Survey Report 2025 introduces a refreshed approach, with plans for more regular, quarterly releases. This responds to Government’s recognition of employment and unemployment as key national concerns and aims to equip policy makers with frequent, evidence-based data to guide planning and policy formulation in the Labour sector. UBOS reaffirms its commitment to delivering reliable statistics to support evidence-based decision-making and national development. #UBOS #DataForDevelopment #EvidenceBasedStatistics #LabourMarketSurvey2025
