Azure Printed Homes has partnered with @DignityMoves and the @CountyofSLO on Welcome Home Village — a transformative re-housing project designed to provide safe, dignified interim supportive housing for individuals experiencing homelessness.

Big day in San Jose as we had our groundbreaking ceremony at @SalvationArmySV where we'll be adding 74 beds of transitional housing in a drug free environment. This is the Pathway of hope! @DignityMoves @MattMahanSJ @SupBettyDuong @Twolfrecovery

From groundbreaking to grand opening in just ten months! This is the 11th shelter community we’ve opened this year — and once this site is at full capacity, we’ll have moved over 1,000 people off the streets in just 12 months. This approach is the reason why we’ve seen unsheltered homelessness go down year over year — in fact, for the first time in city history, we’re nearing a 50% sheltered rate, meaning that half of our homeless population has a bed to sleep in each night and access to the services that will help them get back to self-sufficiency. Thanks to our Vice Mayor @PamFoleyD9 and the community in D9 for welcoming these new neighbors so warmly. Another huge thank you goes to to the philanthropic donors that made this project possible, our state partners @CAgovernor and @CaltransD4, as well as @DignityMoves and @valleywater, who generously donated the land.

San José is making real progress toward achieving functional zero unsheltered homelessness, thanks to serious investment in housing, including interim housing. When people have safe, dignified options, they say yes. We’re proud to partner with the City on 3 communities to date to help make that possible!

Purpose-led work requires purpose-led support. @DignityMoves outsourced their financial needs to Jitasa so they’d have the capacity to make the greatest difference possible in California ending homelessness. DignityMoves does the heavy lifting (literally) to provide private spaces that allows people to get off the street. Jitasa does the backoffice bookkeeping and accounting work that helps organize their finances. Glad to report that my #SB16, which directs @California_HCD to come up with a plan for ending unsheltered homelessness within 10 years, has passed the Senate on a 26-1 vote. We do not lack compassion for homelessness in this state. What we need is a goal and a strategy, to end unsheltered homelessness. @DignityMoves @BayAreaCouncil

The state went from not having a homelessness plan to stepping up in unprecedented ways, and ending unsheltered homelessness is now one of California’s top goals. Dignified interim housing is how we get there. Check out @CAgovernor @GavinNewsom at the Bay Area-Silicon Valley Summit.

The Supreme Court’s Grants Pass decision last summer has accelerated the building of tiny home shelters, as cities now feel they can compel people living on the streets to go there
