People seem to think that the white Spanish showed up and singlehandedly slaughtered the natives. Do you know how many Aztecs there were? Do you know how many Spanish there were? Do you think a thousand guys with single-shot black-powder rifles can take on 100,000 jaguar warriors with bows and spears? Your woke history class left some stuff out. When Hernan Cortes took Tenochtitlan, he was leading an army of fewer than 1500 Spaniards backed by between 100,000 and 200,000 native fighters who had allied with him because they all hated the Aztecs. The conquistadors destroyed the mesoamerican empires by organizing and uniting all the smaller tribes the empires had been oppressing. The arrival of the Spanish at the end of “Apocalypto” is God’s judgment being delivered upon the wicked. It takes some really twisted logic to try to argue that the people who built palaces out of human skulls were somehow the good guys in the conflict between the Spanish and the Aztecs or that their culture needed to be preserved.

i feel like nobody knows how to read this movie. the basic idea is we spend the whole movie getting madder and madder at the maya for what they did to this guy and his family. then suddenly at the end the spanish show up and we realize they're about to do the same exact shit on a much greater scale. it's an anti-colonialism movie from a very non-woke perspective, which people think is a contradiction for some reason

Huh, so the site created for heavy left leaning users has devolved into an insufferable platform where everyone is nasty and tries to hurt each other. I for one am totally shocked.

@Dilios23 @cremieuxrecueil @enkidu84 @overtintrospect There probably multiple billions of people who are too stupid to be able to even correctly model this. It's idiotic to think conclusion of morons would be "blue because it saves kids that randomly press blue". There is no way they can reason like that.

Accurate cartoon. In my polling, almost 6% of people said they picked the wrong button when they were prompted about it. Assume the global error rate is higher and kids' responses are random, and easily 1-in-6 to 1-in-5 hit blue by mistake. So, if red wins, society is ruined.

@TheCartoonLoon That's not even close to accurate.

When Anglo-Saxon St. Boniface was sent to go minister to the "pagan" Germans, he said the shared ethnic kinship between the two peoples would make their efforts well-received. "We are of one and the same blood and bone," he said.

Pope Leo's pick to be bishop of West Virginia is a formerly undocumented immigrant who was smuggled into the U.S. in a car trunk. Bishop Evelio Menjivar-Ayala has called for Catholics to speak out against President Trump’s treatment of immigrants. wapo.st/3PgW94e

This is the idea behind the ‘Popular Vote Interstate Compact,’ which would require states to give their electoral votes to whatever candidate wins the national popular vote. So if Wyoming goes 70-30 for the GOP, but a Democrat wins the national vote by 10 votes - Wyoming gives its electoral vote to the Democrat. It’s completely undemocratic in this sense, and is aimed at destroying what is left of state power. Basically the hope is to allow states like California - whose leaders want to flood the state with ‘newcomers’ and ultimately new voters - to decide national elections, and break the back of red states and what they stand for.

The pattern played out like this: - Duh Red is the obvious choice. Nobody dies if everyone pushes red. There's not reason to push blue. - Blue button pusher think they have a bullet proof rebuttal... Some confused or irrational people will push blue. Therefore the knee-jerk red reaction is naive and the true enlightened position is that that you must push blue. Unfortunately, that turns out to be the naive position. Consider the following...

One of the biggest ironies about the modern Democratic Party is its attempt to monopolize a phrase (Our Democracy) that it actively stands against. The Democratic Party is actually one of the most anti-Democratic forces to have ever existed. Democracy rests on the rulers and the ruled recognizing each other as belonging to the same pre-political “we”. They have to see themselves as sharing a linked fate. In a democracy, losing an election isn’t the end of the world because the people who beat you are still *your people*. They may be wrong. They may even be idiots. But they are YOUR idiots. They’re still bound up in the same destiny as you are. That is not how the modern Democratic Party sees the country. Despite its name, it isn’t a democratic party at all. It’s a liberal managerial party that sees democracy as an obstacle, even as it invokes the word “Our Democracy” to justify their relentless assault on a unified American identity.

@Dilios23 @Conanbatt @cremieuxrecueil In the flooding analogy, the "get a life vest" is the "red can't die". People are pushing red in order to get a life vest. But it ALSO results in flooding the valley. If they didn't flood the valley, they wouldn't need the life vest.

@acidiclemon2 @Conanbatt @cremieuxrecueil But the Red button pusher can’t die. Only the Blue button pusher ever can. How can that fit into your stupid Flood analogy? Oh, it literally can’t. Try something that actually works, and you might realize why Red thinks you’re all stupid.

@Dilios23 @Conanbatt @cremieuxrecueil If 1 person pushes the blue button, the valley doesn't flood. If 1 person pushes the blue button and 1 person pushes the red button, the valley doesn't flood. When 1 more person pushes the red button, the valley floods. Their button push is responsible for flooding the valley.

Not really. Sharing any meme that includes Adolf Hitler in a private (!) group chat is considered a hate crime against Jewish people. I got a year in jail. Smashing statues of Jesus and Mary on public television and encouraging people to do the same “as a form of stress relief” was not considered a hate crime against Christian people. Stark, isn’t it?

India understands the power of diaspora politics They get to build massive income streams by sending their excess population to funnel money back to the country and also establish useful political lobbies in the most important countries in the world None of this is random
Kate@kate_p45

Did you know that in India they have ads that tell Indians where to move in the United States that is beneficial and caters to their community and governors of states like Georgia encourage foreign workers from India. So if you wonder why there are over 34,000 Indians and Pakistanis in Forsyth county, GA and surrounding counties, politicians and companies are encouraging it.
