1. Never picking off
2. Being 1.35s or faster to home plate from hand break
3. Have three cadences to home plate (U-C-L-A being the canonical example)
We went from well below-average in 2019 to 2nd best at holding runners in 2021 w/ the Reds.

@CoachSwit Pitching is better than ever, but the strike zone is smaller now. With Trackman college umps are graded on pitch accuracy, so zones are tighter. Similar walk rates to past eras is actually impressive being that stuff is better.

Curious — does anyone know the average number of walks per game in D1 baseball this year?
Velocity seems higher than ever, but a lot of games also seem to have quite a few walks.
I could be wrong. Anyone have thoughts on this?
