@jonjonfromsf @abbydphillip Does being a Zionist mean support of Israel’s actions in Gaza?

Noa Fay, a Jewish Columbia student says this about her Jewish classmates involved in the pro-Palestinian protests:
“Take them as seriously as we all take Blacks for Trump and Gays for Trump. It’s absolutely a fair comparison, it’s the same tokenization. That’s how seriously we should take them. They don’t represent our community and they’ve been tokenized.”

@daGOODcaptain48 @HenMazzig Not stolen but won fair and square in the 1967 war, waged by aggressive Arab nations against tiny & legally established Israel in 1948.

When Hamas began to infiltrate Kibbutz Be’eri, Magen David Adom paramedic Amit Mann, 22, grabbed her first aid kit and ran to the clinic to treat those wounded, where she was trapped with the injured and dead for over seven hours.
She wrote to her family: "They are back, I don't think we will be able to survive this.”
"Pray for us, be strong if something happens to me", "Mom I love you, think only good things about me.”
Her body was found two days later.
Only after did her family learn that her apartment had been left untouched by Hamas, and had she stayed at home, she would have likely survived.
Amit’s courage and heroism is an example for us all.
She is a true lioness of Israel.
May her memory be a blessing.

The head of psychiatry at the Tel Aviv hospital caring for released hostages said they had undergone the worst abuse and trauma she had witnessed in her career.
Among the 14 former hostages treated at her canter, she said, were child hostages who had been drugged by their captors – including with ketamine – and were suffering from withdrawal, those who had subjected to or witnessed sexual abuse, a woman who had been kept in a tiny cage, and another who had a breakdown after being kept in complete darkness for days.

@MarinaMedvin There really are no words.
From many who saw the videos of the heinous atrocities carried out by the Palestinian Hamas terrorists, they were all so astonished and struck by the glee and joy the terrorists displayed during/after commiting the acts.
Evil, pure evil.

The New York Times has published a lengthy investigation into the sexual violence and brutality faced by women in Israel on October 7 by Hamas terrorists.
Their two-month long investigation was based on:
- Interviews with 150 people including witnesses, medical personnel, soldiers, and rape counselors.
- Video footage, photographs, and GPS data.
Witnesses and other visual evidence reveal a harrowing portrait of that day.

@WobH @JordynTilchen You miss the point entirely. Hamas kills their own. Israelis do not.

My heart is shattered for the deceased and their families, but I feel a different kind of heartache and devastation for the soldiers who pulled the trigger.
They paused their lives, put on their uniforms, and bravely stepped into Gaza with the goal of getting the hostages back and destroying Hamas.
They went knowing they were putting their lives on the line. They went knowing they may never return.
They are the selfless human beings who represent the best of the Jewish people. They are heroes. Heroes who made a terrible, split-second mistake that will haunt them forever.
My heart aches for them. I cannot imagine the pain.

During combat in Shejaiya, the IDF mistakenly identified 3 Israeli hostages as a threat and as a result, fired toward them and the hostages were killed. 1/1

It was 2 am and IDF soldiers noticed some suspicious movements in the horizon. In a time of war, that would generally mean to open fire. But the IDF, being the IDF, waited and then noticed it was a kid, a 4 year old girl.
She was walking around aimlessly without shoes and with multiple wounds.
The IDF soldiers took her to the field doctor, they treated her wounds and helped her in every way they could.
After they treated her, they brought her to the humanitarian corridor so they can try to locate her family and care for her.
Turns out, the child was sent by Hamas into the heart of a war zone to see if the Israeli soldiers were up and alert.
Their cruelty knows no bounds.
Why don’t you see this story in the press? Good question.
If there was ever a story that illustrates the endlessly savage nature of Hamas and the deeply compassionate nature of the IDF, this is it. 🇮🇱❤️💪

I can’t disagree with you. I am Canadian and the government of the day behaved disgracefully. For whatever it’s worth, my father enlisted because of the horror he envisaged while celebrating his 17th birthday with his family on November 9th, 1938. I am not Jewish, but you fought to establish your homeland, and if anyone deserves it, it’s you. More people should go, and while they’re there they should take a little trip to the Ayalon Institute. #ChagSameach #YouAreNotAlone

Don’t threaten us with cutting off your aid. It will not work. I am not a Jew with trembling knees. I am a proud Jew with 3,700 years of civilized history. Nobody came to our aid when we were dying in the gas chambers and ovens. Nobody came to our aid when we were striving to create our country. We paid for it. We fought for it. We died for it. We will stand by our principles. We will defend them. And, when necessary, we will die for them again, with or without your aid.

@TonyKaron @wyoumans Arabs were offered a state alongside Jews in 1947 under UN Partition 181. Jews said yes, and Arabs said no. Arabs went to war with Israel in 1948*. They lost.

@GoldmanEleanor @Baddiel Not my nation either even though my forebears were Jewish Palestinans in “Eretz Yisrael”. Neither David, myself, or any other Jewish person, needs to be told “Israel is your country” . We can support the idea of a Jewish state without becoming part of it.

@JoRayVo From the river to the sea is a catch cry uttered by many who have no idea what it means. If Palestine is to be free from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean, doesn’t it mean the State of Israel would no longer exist? The claim of genocide is wildly exaggerated

A thread with articles that may be helpful for understanding why many of us, including Jewish Voice for Peace and other Jews in solidarity with Palestine, are not threatened by the call for freedom "from the river to the sea" & use it in our protests too.🧵jewishcurrents.org/what-does-from…

Many many years ago, I learnt Hebrew out of curiosity, and in a bid to penetrate into a world that I once thought was evil and conspiring against Arabs and Muslims. Once in, I was surprised how wrong I was, how wrong almost every Arab and Muslim around me was.
These days, I watch Hebrew networks (and Arabic ones). There is a lot of Israeli pain over those who were killed on 10/7, agony of those who survived, and anxiety over those who are held hostage by Hamas. A lot of tears, now mixing with tears over fallen soldiers fighting in Gaza.
The thing about all this Israeli pain is that it is almost exclusively in Hebrew. The world does not see Israelis hurt, does not hear them cry. The world sees Israel as fighter jets raining death to punish those who killed them from 15000 feet above ground. The world only sees and hears pain coming from Gaza, and the world always takes the side of the underdog, even when the underdog is guilty. One billion Muslims certainly have a much louder voice than 20 million Jews, and the world will always blame Israel, even when Palestinians started the carnage.
And that's exactly why Israelis are fighting the fight of their lives. They understand that the world is an unfair place, and that they cannot rely on non-existent international justice or biased global opinion.
I wish I had a magic wand to make fellow Arabs, and the rest of the world, see what I see. There will never be peace without justice, and using our numbers (Muslims) to impose our narrative is one way to try to beat Israel, but not the way to peace. My voice will dissent. I want peace, and peace is incumbent on winning the trust of those we want to live in peace with, not keeping on instigating the world against them.
