The global Islamic economy from fashion to food
Muslim consumer spending across major Islamic economy sectors reached around $2.43 trillion in 2023 and is projected to approach $3.36 trillion by 2028. Halal food remains by far the largest segment at roughly $1.43 trillion, but sectors such as modest fashion, Islamic finance, cosmetics, pharma, travel, and media are also expanding steadily.
Islamic finance alone is approaching $5 trillion in assets. Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, UAE, and Bahrain currently rank among the leading ecosystems supporting Islamic economy activity. The scale is no longer niche , it is becoming a major parallel consumer and financial ecosystem
