@BoldlyNigerian Yeah, like the government are not the primary cause. Your president alone is an international embarrassment.

Our Leaders Ruined Nigeria. All block headed leaders We were giving Angola 20 million dollars but 60 - 70% of the country then was not connected to electricity We were giving Angola 20 million dollars but illiteracy level was over 70% We were giving Angola 20 million dollars but we did not have up to 20,000KM of paved roads in the whole country We were giving Angola 20 million dollars, but not up to 5% of the whole country then had access to pipe borne water that they could drink Yes, you make money from crude oil, pack 20 million, give Angola and think its something to brag about. And this behaviour is common in Nigerian homes. So many people here, people know their father as generous and rich, but at home, them dey share pomo with their siblings We made money from the crude oil boom, used it recklessly to buy fugazzi respect because of ego. Today NONE of that money benefitted Nigerians

@nduriems @OtunbaBrickz You called that good! When you don't even have basic infrastructure, like an interstate train network, they just misused the money back then. The leaders should have focused on fully developing the country first before wasting money on other countries.

@DipsonMick @OtunbaBrickz Don’t forget that our economy was good then. Naira almost equaled pounds/dollars. It was so good that Car companies in Nigeria, gave brand new cars to graduating students, knowing they would get jobs to start paying back, shortly after graduation. Nigeria used to be good.

All of you GenZ’s and unlearned millennials that clown Nigeria asking mockingly “why are we even called Giant of Africa, self?” this is why! In the 60s-90s, Nigeria was literally Africa’s sugar daddy, $20m here, $10m there, and so on and so forth to other African countries! we didn’t only talk about Pan-Africanism we put our money where our mouth was. Also, at independence, many African countries didn’t have as many educated professionals as Nigeria. In a lot of African countries that gained independence after us from 1963 onwards, the first chief justice, auditor general, surgeon general, vice chancellors of universities were all Nigerians! The first black chief justice of Botswana was Akinola Aguda, the first black chief justice of Gambia was Emmanuel Ayoola, when the portuguese left Mozambique in the 70s Nigerian health care officers (doctors and nurses) were sent to shore up their healthcare system from collapse bcos they just didn’t have enough qualified doctors. after all said and done we sent over 10,000 professionals across africa and the carribeans to help them incubate their newly independent nations should we even talk about the ECOMOG troops in the 90s that 70% majorly funded (spent over $3b+) and equipped by Nigeria with Nigerian soldiers forming 75% of the peacekeeping force? ECOMOG led by us was highly responsible for ending the Liberian and Sierra Leonean civil wars. I won’t even go into details of what Nigeria contributed to the South African anti-apartheid efforts! Nigeria gave and gave and forgot to pay attention to its own development and today we’ve become the pariah amongst nations!

“During Murtala’s regime, we gave Angola $20 Million which was N12 Million. Nigerian Airways helped them have access to the outside world. We did the same with South Africa.”- Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo

@Mayoveli The main thing is why are you helping others when your country is underdeveloped and you don't have basic infrastructure? They just waste money and time helping those countries back then.

Nigeria actually lived out that Pan-African ethos, and what do we get for it today? Contempt and disrespect from many African countries, whose ordinary citizens and even some leaders won’t stop making fun of Nigeria in their speeches. This is why I think diplomatic unity in Africa suffers; it is often not reciprocated, and sometimes the country you helped today may insult you tomorrow or even tolerate xenophobic attacks against your people. I haven’t heard much disrespect from Angola, but look at South Africa. How much did we send there when they were most vulnerable? Millions of dollars. Even Namibia, do they know how much we supported SWAPO in its struggle against apartheid-era South African occupation? We literally helped save Sierra Leone and Liberia with the blood of our soldiers, even if those interventions had some rough edges. Ghana too, how many cash endowments did we send over there? Now it feels like every African country wants to open its mouth and slander Nigeria, as if we didn’t support many of them against all odds, even at the expense of our own domestic needs, which is where I think we went wrong. You take care of home first before giving away resources.

A lot of people criticizing you are just bitter. I once gained admission to LAUTECH to study Chemical Engineering in 2018, but I wasn’t able to attend cos my parents couldn’t afford 140k tuition fee. If NELFUND had existed then, I might have graduated and studied my dream course.
