July 13th, 2024 is a day we will never forget. Corey Comperatore lost his life during an unthinkable act of violence. Corey was a fixture at the Lernerville Speedway in his hometown of Sarver, Pennsylvania. A former Buffalo Township Fire Chief, Corey was a member of the Lernerville Safety Crew for over 20 years. He could also be found selling the 50/50 at the speedway for the BTVFD. Former Lernerville General Manager Gary Risch Jr said “Corey was a one of a kind hero. Awesome Dad, Husband and Friend. One of the best to have ever served his community! The memories are endless.” Corey will forever be remembered as a hero who saved his wife and daughter.

There were many great moments last season across Pennsylvania, but there were also some very dark moments involving far too many severe injuries on the football field. As avid supporters of Karns City’s Mason Martin, the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department decided to take action. They have planned a training class called “Game Day Ready: Preparing EMS for Game Day Emergencies.” This educational opportunity will provide strategies for EMS crews to deliver effective sporting event standbys, along with hands-on, practical reviews. The program is approved for 2.0 hours of EMS CPC Continuing Education. “With football season coming into full swing, we felt this class would be the perfect opportunity to get some great training for our crews and surrounding departments.” – SRVFD To honor Mason Martin, the program proudly carries the acronym M.A.S.O.N. 𝟔𝐀 𝐖𝐏𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 — 𝐀 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 🧵 As we work our way through April, offseason training has begun at schools all around the WPIAL. It's time to take a look at the 2025 Preseason WPIAL Football Rankings. We will start in the 6A classification. 
In 2024 we saw dominating regular seasons by Pittsburgh Central Catholic and North Allegheny. These two teams faced off in a tightly contested battle in Week 5 where PCC came out ahead on the scoreboard 27-14. As everyone expected, the two powerhouses once again matched up in the WPIAL Championship game where Pittsburgh Central Catholic flexed their muscles and put the game away early, ultimately winning 45-14 and went on to make a PIAA State Championship appearance where they were defeated by St. Joes Prep. 

With 2024 behind us, where do these teams stack up in 2025? Will there be a new contender at the top or will history repeat itself with PCC and NA continuing to dominate 6A? Lets dive in!
