After I broke my gaming laptop in college, I didn’t play vidya for almost 3 years. Finally got a full desktop computer for content creation and downloaded a bunch of the games I’d missed. Most of them I can’t play for more than an hour at one time, even when I have the spare time. Just doesn’t scratch the same itch anymore

@TobuFox Ngl my biggest beef with III is that they build up this sincere and reverent atmosphere with the pre title screen intro with the orchestral version of don’t think twice, then they completely fuck up the vibe with face my fears slamming you in the face with dubstep basslines

@MetalGearTakes I replayed it and some of the themes were very relevant, but the B&B Corps aged very poorly imo

I got into XI lately and everyone keeps telling me to just skip everything and rush into endgame because level cap is all that matters but why would I skip hundreds and hundreds of hours of a game I'm thoroughly enjoying just to get to an endgame I'll get to eventually anyway

@inkblotPrincess It's an open world game... Would it be better if you were forced to fight every single thing that moves, every time, and how would they even do that? Plus if you run away from every fight you're probably going to get stuck at the boss fights.

People always call me crazy when I say this but in Elden Ring specifically the game directly teaches you the value of simply running by things and it's a massive detriment to the game

Game Vergil would actually kill this dude for calling their mom weak. His entire pursuit of power, quite literally stems from his childhood desire to be protected by his mother who never reached him before she was killed. The MAIN factor for his lust for strength is a deep desire to never allow something like his mothers death to happen again. V spills his guts to Trish because she is a physical copy of her and he desperately tries to save her. These straight up aren't even Dante, Vergil and Lady anymore, these aren't the same characters at all.

@moonmin_03 Has maybe the most bewilderingly bad last 3rd of a game design-wise I’ve ever played. If the early game didn’t grab you getting on a train to ride past 2 cut extra world maps followed by a multiple hour long stealth section definitely won’t

I really wasn't feeling this game. I'm always playing some final fantasy or other so I will return to it eventually but as it stands this is the one Final Fantasy I genuinely dislike

@TomCafeConLeche As the series goes its relationship to women just gets more complicated as well. the way some characters are written it’s clear Kojima had feminine figures in his life he learned from and deeply respected, but he also kind of a perv with a deep appreciation for the feminine form

@TomCafeConLeche Yeahhh I adore the game but the writing is very “macho 80s action movie” when it’s related to women in the game, I would say though for the time it could have been much worse being an early attempt at cinematic writing in the medium
