Discord Previews

We now have a Discord server with a custom bot that automatically posts about new stuff that was added to the Discord client like new text, experiments and soon even more: discord.gg/mqjwhDemBt We will still post about bigger things on this Twitter account as before though.

Discord is working on allowing users to make their profiles private. Other users will only see very basic information, such as a user's display name and their username, with information such as their bio, badges, and pronouns being only visible to their friends.

Discord is working on a Gift Card system. Users will be able to redeem gift cards on Discord in order to purchase Nitro or get profile items from the Shop.

Discord is trialing a new Server Boosting perk: 250 MB uploads for all server members. Like Server Tags and Game Servers, this powerup will require additional boosts beyond the regular 3-tier system. We currently don't know how many boosts the powerup will cost.

Discord is experimenting with a Kaomoji Tab in the Emoji Picker.

Discord is experimenting with letting people use GIFs and Images as a voice channel's Hang Status. The chosen image will display above the user list below the channel name.

Discord has added a new experiment that adds an "is in voice" indicator to usernames in chat. This is NOT related to profile badges.

Discord is reworking the hidden Favorites feature, originally created as a Hack Week project, into a fully-fledged feature. The new Favorites feature will only be avaible for $9.99 tier Nitro users. Previously, the feature was only unofficially accessible through hidden dev menus

Discord is rolling out mandatory global age verification with major restrictions for teens: - Must verify age to unblur sensitive content - Adults-only access to age-restricted servers/channels - Stage speaking limited to verified adults - Stricter DM & friend request controls

Your currently active dare will also be visible to everyone else on Discord.

Discord is working on a new feature called Voice Dares. With Voice Dares, you can challenge your friends in your voice channel to complete a task. These tasks can be timed or tied to other conditions, such as winning a game.

Note that this can only be applied to accounts that are part of a family via Family Center

Discord is working on a new feature that lets parents set limits for how long their children can use Discord. The scheduling system allows for configuring during which hours on any given weekday a child account may access Discord.

We don't know if this also applies to user-initiated account deletion or only when an account is suspended by Discord.

Discord is adding a feature that hides messages sent by suspended accounts. Unlike blocked messages and messages from accounts marked as spam, there appears to be no built in way to view the original messages.

At the time of posting, we do not know how many boosts these two packs will cost.

Discord is preparing two new server tag icon packs. The first is nature-themed and contains the following: Four-Leaf Clover, Cherry Blossom, Wilted Flower, Maple Leaf, and Potted Plant. The second is animal-themed and contains: Bee, Butterfly, Caterpillar, Snail, and Spider.
