The Commanders are signing CB Akhello Witherspoon per @MikeGarafolo. Washington needed more CB depth -- and could use more. Witherspoon reunites with Washington GM Adam Peters, who was with the 49ers when they drafted him in the 3rd round in 2017.

Washington will host CB Akhello Witherspoon Thursday per @MikeGarafolo. Commanders need more CBs. Adam Peters was in SF when they drafted him in the 3rd round in 2017. Has 64 career starts. Coming off broken scapula; first one occurred in Oct. Broke it again in postseason.

The Washington Commanders actually did this. In 1946, they drafted Cal Rossi, UCLA RB, 9th overall. He was ineligible to be drafted since he was a junior. In 1947, they draft Rossi again, this time 4th overall. Turns out, he never wanted to play pro football. And never did.

The Commanders have signed OT Foster Sarell. He was in camp with Washington last summer, then signed with the Chargers after being released in the final cuts. Spent time on the Chargers' practice squad as well as the active roster last season.
