Something else that I don’t see a lot of people mentioning is that most of these characters have extremely popular wlw ships and there are a ton of women who ship them alongside the mlm ships! They aren’t “in the way” of anything! Fandoms do not revolve around canon pairings!

@DivergentRogue all of those have their own fanbase, but in the big picture, most fans for Byler or bakudeku or narusasu (which are WAY more popular) started shipping those yuri as an afterthought, and don't engage, which is the whole point I'm making, not that they don't have fans

@ivyofeden I think that wlw ships as a whole are underrepresented in fanfic, but the majority of the most popular wlw ships stand on their own, like caitvi, the girls from K-Pop Demon Hunters, Wednesday and Enid, etc. none of them have many, if any, popular ships with men

@DivergentRogue I get it, i do, I'm not saying it's inherently a bad thing, but look at the most famous wlw ships in AO3, it's almost always a side yuri for a yaoi ship and a few that are just momentarily popular and then passed down

@ivyofeden @l0v3rocketz That fails to take into account that 1. Bakudeku are the main characters of MHA, while Togachako are side characters, and 2. Will was canonically gay, so obviously byler would be the most popular queer ship.
