I believe we are at a point of crisis when it comes to crypto's influence over our legislative process. Recent reporting from just last week reveals a foreign company that issues a cryptocurrency used by major criminal organizations appears to have shaped Trump's signature piece of legislation, the GENIUS Act, while at the same time forging deep financial relationships with members of the executive branch.

In April, a crypto billionaire who put $30M into Trump’s crypto firm sued them for fraud, saying operators “leveraged the Trump brand to profit through fraud.” Trump’s company didn’t deny it in court — they countersued him for defamation instead. This isn’t new behavior. It’s the same playbook Trump’s been running for almost 20 years. Let’s go back to the beginning. 🧵

🇺🇸 Joint Base Charleston is getting a new name: Joint Base Lindsey Graham. The Pentagon made it official. Air Force Secretary Troy Meink issued a memo yesterday ordering the process to begin. Working with Air Mobility Command and the base leadership to change the signs, the paperwork, everything. They’re doing it because Graham put in 33 years in the Air Force (active duty and Reserve), deployed, and then spent decades in the Senate fighting for this exact base. He helped lock down hundreds of millions in upgrades, including big money for the piers and facilities that keep it running as a major East Coast hub. This comes just over 2 weeks after he died. A service called ISBNdb facilitates orders of up to a million books and keeps buyers anonymous. Pre-2022 books are premium because they're free of AI-generated text. A federal judge ruled the practice is fair use because eliminating the original means only one copy exists at a time. Anthropic hired the former head of Google Books partnerships to obtain "all the books in the world." My Take This got to me. A bookseller told 404 Media that rare books with almost no surviving copies are being fed into this pipeline. Books that survived wars, fires, and centuries of handling are being shredded so an AI can learn to write a better marketing email. ISBNdb's website literally says "'AI company destroys two million books' is not a headline that generates sympathy," and they still built an entire business around making it happen quietly. They offer NDAs as a feature. They coach clients to call it "digital preservation." I've covered AI companies scraping the internet, torrenting libraries, and stealing music. This is worse because it's irreversible. You can re-upload a website. You can reprint a bestseller. You can't replace the last three copies of an 18th-century botanical text once someone shreds them for training data. And the judge said it's legal. So it's going to accelerate. Karoline Leavitt on the midterms: I would remind the American people who caused the affordability crisis. It was Biden and Democrats. Trump took action on day one to fix that. All these things will get better if two more years with a Republican congress.

Just because you didn’t know that it didn’t exist doesn’t mean they weren’t doing things that were extremely important to keep our elections flowing and secure. Ask yourself why do you think he’s doing this along with all the other things. If you look at what he has done in the past and you add it together, you can easily see he is laying the groundwork to say the election was rigged and create false pretense to seize ballots or voting machines which will invalidate the election or cancel the election altogether because he’s been also trying to look into that. As with everything try to understand the what and why of that opposing view so you can fully understand why other people say the things they do.

Big opportunity if Maduro has the courage to do the right thing tonight.

The problem with it is that it could disenfranchise up to 22 million people from voting when trying to fix something that’s not a problem but will create a problem. Also what they are trying to push through which should have to have 60 votes but bypassing. Why not just do voter ID instead of all the other things that will hurt Americans. Or should figure out an ID that citizens can all get that the government provides at no cost.

Who needs Democrats when you have Republicans this weak?!

Just experienced my first air raid in Ukraine. Sirens blaring. This is everyday for every Ukrainian. I feel like such an asshole for minimizing the struggle of Ukrainians for the last 5 years. I often said I don’t care. Looking back, that wasn’t very nice of me to say. There are people in Ukraine who have to run to a bomb shelter everyday and some of us had the audacity to say Russia wasn’t wrong because we believed the lie that Ukraine is a country full of Nazi sympathizers. We have been so propagandized by Russia and we don’t even realize it. Air sirens could very well be the future of America if we don’t start demanding our lawmakers crack down on communism and multipolarity. We won’t have Trump forever and the axis of evil is moving fast.
