A woman in the audience holds up the Constitution and challenges the Zanu-PF candidate on the party’s 2030 agenda. She questions his claim that he wants to put Nkulumane first, arguing the agenda conflicts with the Constitution and may not reflect the people’s needs.

Thank you Ghana for speaking out against the shocking human rights abuses perpetrated in #Tanzania. The silence of @SADC_News leaders in this regard is deafening.

🔸Chinonetsa ndechekuti munobvuma kuvharwa netunhu-tunhu. Pamakaenda ikoko, makadii kuenda neposition paper inotaura kuti gadzirisai zvakati nezvakati eg: ♿️Bvisai mataxes ema assistive devices, ♿️Open social welfare offices in all provinces, ♿️Hire dedicated disability officers in the civil service, ♿️Create a disability fund to buy wheelchairs, hearing aids and braille equipment for those who need it, ♿️Provide welfare grants, ♿️Use sign language in official comms, ♿️Create a disability register, assess needs and give welfare support etc. Instead of doing that, makanovarairwa and instead sung 2030. Now we are back at square one yekupemha. You cannot run a country on handouts. Don’t let politicians use you for their own agendas. Focus on building a nation that works for everyone. We need new leaders.🇿🇼

On a more serious note, I totally agree with President Hakainde Hichilema when he says that it is ridiculous for trucks coming from Zimbabwe into Zambia to be stopped at the border and delayed, sometimes even for more than a day. It is equally ridiculous for trucks coming out of Zambia into Zimbabwe to be delayed at Chirundu or Kariba. It is absolutely ridiculous. Countries with big economies acorss that continue to grow across the world allow goods and services to move freely without unnecessary border delays and pointless paperwork, which invariably becomes a corruption cesspool.

This is thirty-one-year-old Jenifer “Niffer” Jovin, a Tanzanian businesswoman who has been arrested and charged with TREASON; a crime punishable by death in Tanzania. Her alleged offence? Taking part in this viral video “Nywinywi” Challenge. She was charged with treason for this specific video. The Tanzanian regime accuses her of two counts of treason, conspiracy to damage infrastructure, and incitement during the general election — all stemming from this harmless online challenge. That is how absurd and repressive Madam Dictator’s Tanzania has become, a complete laughing stock before the world. The challenge uses the Swahili phrase “Hakutakuwa na nywinywi, nywinywi wala nywenywinyi”, which is loosely translated as “no more excuses” or “we are done being fooled”. Jenifer “Niffer” Jovin was tortured while in police custody in Tanzania. Her lawyer stated in court that she was physically assaulted by police officers, and forced to sign a statement. The lawyer also said that on 5 November, 21 of her co-accused had visible injuries, some still limping or bearing gunshot wounds. That is how shameless Madam Dictator’s regime has become, a bloody stain on Tanzania’s reputation.

@matinyarare Have you ever wondered why Russia and North Korea managed to thrive under far harsher sanctions compared to Zimbabwe's TARGETED sanctions!

Where are the headlines? This mother in Iran is about to be hanged and I really feel helpless seeing silence from the big names, the anti-war activists in the West, the feminist leaders, the so-called free world leaders. Her only “crime”? Fighting for freedom and dignity for her son and a better future. The regime wants to kill her for wanting justice. And the world looks away. Why are the global justice and feminist movements silent? Where are the protests? This is not about politics. This is about basic humanity. What does it mean for justice, when those who once marched against oppression turn their eyes away from a woman who seeks nothing but fairness and humanity? This execution is not only her death sentence, it is a test of our collective humanity. #SharifehMohammadi

Today, the Iranian regime confirmed the death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi, a mother, a labor activist, and a defender of women’s rights. Her only act was standing up for justice and dignity. Now she faces execution, leaving behind a young child who may never again feel her embrace. This is not just an attack on one woman, it is an attack on every mother who dares to dream of a better life for her children. When injustice threatens the most vulnerable among us, our silence becomes consent. We must raise our voices for Sharifeh, because her fight is the fight of us all. #SharifehMohammadi

Friends of Karanda Hospital are hosting a braai/barbecue on 15 August at Alexandra Sports Club in Harare, and they need our support. Karanda Hospital has saved thousands of Zimbabwean lives, especially during times when public hospitals had no medicines or functioning medical equipment. It is a vital health institution, and we must support it to help save even more lives. Let us stand with those who stood by us when the system failed; Karanda saved our loved ones when no one else could. This is more than a barbecue, it is a chance to say thank you with action. RETWEET/RESHARE.
