There’s absolutely NO DOUBT that African American culture is HEAVILY influenced by West and Central African culture practices from our food, music, social behavior, language dialogue, etc. It’s always funny to me that those who claim to be “safeguarding” African American culture don’t know anything about the history of African American culture and or how it began. To say “African American culture isn’t African culture” or “Black Americans ain’t African” is a stupendously ignorant thing to say. Nobody is saying that African American culture doesn’t have European culture influences due to slavery and nobody ever said African American culture isn’t unique in its own right. But to completely remove and or dismiss the African influences from African American culture is just plain stupid when this information has been documented for generations. All of this can be found with deep research and isn’t worth debating ignorant people over.
