Namaste, It appears that "West" and "Science" has discovered some of the benefits of Homa, Yagna. It is named as " Medicinal Smoke". Waiting for the day some of the benefts of "Agnihotra" is discovered and a name given to it. ,
Science girl@sciencegirl

Smoke can clean the air better than some chemicals. A study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology analyzed the effects of "medicinal smoke" - specifically the combustion of wood and a mixture of odoriferous and medicinal herbs - on airborne pathogens. The goal was to see if natural smoke could function as an atmospheric sterilizer. The findings were significant. The researchers treated a closed room with this medicinal smoke for one hour. They found that it didn't just mask odors; it decimated the bacteria. Within 60 minutes, there was a 94 percent reduction in bacterial counts. Even more surprising was the longevity of the effect. While chemical sprays often evaporate or dissipate quickly, the smoke treatment maintained a cleaner environment for 24 hours in a closed room. In an open room, specific pathogenic bacteria - including Staphylococcus lentus and Enterobacter aerogenes were completely absent even 30 days after the initial treatment. This indicates that the smoke possesses strong bactericidal properties, capable of eliminating diverse plant and human pathogens within a confined space. It challenges the modern assumption that air quality is only improved by filtration, This modern data validates a practice that dates back thousands of years. Indigenous cultures worldwide have long used smoke for purification. In India, the havan ritual involves burning specific herbs to purify the environment, while Aboriginal Australians have performed "smoking ceremonies" for roughly 60,000 years to ward off bad spirits and cleanse the land. Read the study: "Medicinal smoke reduces airborne bacteria." Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2007

Thanks Divya for pointing out this obvious appropriation, from someone who follows me for a long time. My forest vs desert civilizations thesis explained in detail in BEING DIFFERENT. And we made a video animation to explain it. I hope his post and your response will lead folks to watch this animation, and even read the section in my book. Thanks.

Pure mathematics, carnatic music, bharatanatyam, classical art, sculpture, chess or go, mridangam, classical poetry, fine cooking - what is common to all of them? (apart from the fact that I am not good in any of them 😁, at least I get to appreciate some of them) We need children to have a decent exposure to these at a young age - not because we expect them to grow up to be brilliant mathematicians or world class chess players or world class chefs but because an exposure to these help them to be good at whatever they end up doing. Exposure does not mean competitive pressure, I want to be clear. I won't ever be confused for a world class mathematician but my interest in the subject informs my understanding of software deeper. Likewise decent exposure to art and sculpture can help someone become a great architect. Great orators often have a deep interest in classical poetry. And so on.

The view in the quoted tweet is definitely not a Shastriya view on Varna. I have a long chapter in 'Chatuh Shloki Manusmriti' which explores Varna and its multifaceted nature as enunciated in Hindu texts.

The "bullaku" is a very very traditional hindu thing man. 🙄🙄 You'll see it in murtis of devis in the south of India, classical dancers wearing them , and brides too. It was part of daily wear a few generations back.

@krithikasivasw We can't go by how temples decorate murthi-s, a lot of ancient shringara practices are lost. Also every piercing in Hinduism has a profound significance, if you can explain the significance, we can rest the case

Unpopular opinion: If one wants to eat healthy food, then one should know how to cook. Atleast to cook a basic decent meal. Male or female, gender is immaterial. Ofcourse, a little bit of knowledge of nutritional science is also required. But this is easily available all over the internet nowadays.

Yes. But the whole purpose of colonial/church teaching is to teach u (1) DO NOT think (2) only mug up from TRUSTED sources. Rote learning is NOT a perversion of the colonial/church education system it is part of its CORE design. How else could the church make ppl implicit believe for centuries in all sorts of idiotic superstitions from virgin birth to racism, and the false history AND BAD philosophy of math. Wikipedia and AI now CONTROL what u believe. Fact is: no one could contest a SINGLE SENTENCE in all the books and articles I have written in the past 45 years. That contest needs brains and knowledge which instruments of propaganda lack. All they can ever say is a general dismissal WITHOUT engaging with specific which they CAREFULLY avoid, as in "this is contrary to 'mainstream' beliefs [= beliefs established by sustained propaganda]" but never engage. The West laughs at the extreme foolishness of Indians (and the colonised) who TRUST and revere the very West which looted and killed them, reducing the richest nations on earth to the poorest. My aim is, of course to smash that propaganda, and those church superstitions in math and science, as in my talk yesterday. But Indians are totally convinced they must NEVER, never check facts or myths, it is a crime to do so (like it was a crime to distrust the church) and we must keep trusting the very dacoits who looted us and lied to us. Who can ever save them from this stupid superstition instilled by colonial education?

"Dadi, why can’t I go in the kitchen during my periods?" What begins as a quiet afternoon in the courtyard turns into a powerful lesson in unlearning. From pickles to plants, open hair to old fears, one grandmother gently busts every myth around menstruation with logic, love, and lived wisdom. Because the only thing ‘impure’ is the silence and shame we’ve let linger for too long. It’s time we question what we’ve been told and listen to the voices that dare to speak up. >> #PeriodPositive #MythBusterDadi #BreakTheTaboo

@thebetterindia Please don’t use a “dadi” figure to dismiss traditions that is steeped in science. What evidence do you even have to dismiss these things as taboo?? Ms Sinu Joseph has produced enough material to document scientific evidences for these profound practices.

A New Beginning: Leaving Corporate to Embrace Motherhood Today was my last day at the office. After months of silent deliberation, emotional turbulence, and inner reckoning, I’ve finally stepped away from a career that gave me a lot. I worked as an Actuary in an insurance company, a profession that is intellectually rewarding and financially comfortable. The work was genuinely enjoyable for me. Contrary to popular opinion about the corporate grind, my experience wasn’t bitter. I had a brilliant, supportive boss and kind, understanding colleagues. The flexibility and balance the job offered were rare and valuable. Yet, I chose to let it go. Why? Because despite the comfort and contentment, I felt a subtle yet growing stagnation in personal growth. The true work I needed to do- on myself, on my purpose, on the life I wanted to shape- was elsewhere. I’m now stepping into a space I’m not formally trained in: being a full-time mother. I can’t cook (yet). I’m not the most domestic person (yet). I know the days ahead won’t be easy. Children, as every parent knows, can test every limit of patience and strength. But they are also the mirrors in which we truly see ourselves. The kind of growth I now seek- emotional, spiritual, intellectual- will come from being present with my children. From learning how to be with them not just with love, but with clarity. From rooting them in Dharma, in truth, in resilience. And for that, I must first learn. That’s what this journey is really about. As I take this leap, I’m filled with equal parts fear and excitement. There are projects ahead- studying history, exploring Sanatana Dharma, unlearning colonial worldviews. These are not just academic pursuits; they are sacred steps toward becoming the kind of mother I aspire to be. By Sadhguru’s Grace, I begin this new phase tomorrow—on Sankashti Chaturthi. A good day, indeed as Shree Ganesha is the remover of obstacles and bhagwan of beginnings. Ganpati Bappa Morya!🙏🙏🙏

Talent and Intellect is nature's gift. Wisdom is human achievement, the spiritual ascendancy. Such a measured, honest and spiritually rooted response. To know one's place, be comfortable and content. To know how much credit belong where. And to know that it is the institution and through that, the Nation that matters more. The quintessential Indian woman - Role model for all.

India is inherently a feudal country, its kings and emperors have committed innumerable atrocities yet continued to receive mass adulation and a long reign. The kings always balanced 10 wrong doings will one act of kindness and performance of humility, and everything was forgiven. The whitewashing of Mallya & sudden support for him is a part of the same muscle memory.
