Barcelona are now in a stronger financial position. Their revenues for the last financial year is expected to exceed €1bn. It was almost €1bn in 2023/24. That’s a solid financial position. They recorded €17m loss last season and €91m the season before, so they may have an even smaller loss or even a profit, if they extremely do well. Their deal with Nike and Spotify, and their about 40 other sponsors is also moving well. Laporta has done quite well to reposition Barcelona’s finances. They’re splashing the cash again. Getting heavy wages off their books will also be helpful, but the soundness of these deals will only be known when they happen.

When ODI came to existence, it was mimicking Tests. Template was quite the same. Just a condensed one-innings Test. When T20 came into existence, it was mimicking ODI cricket. Just a condensed 50-over contest. Not anymore. T20 cricket has found its own identity. While ODI didn’t kill Tests, the skills and bravado on display in modern day T20 is mounting the pressure on 50-over cricket. Comparisons are inevitable and T20 is likely to win.

It’s funny how for the past year, every time Cubarsí vs Huijsen got brought up, Madrid fans kept repeating the same lines: “He benched Cubarsí for Spain” or “Ask De La Fuente” They spent months flexing Huijsen starting in glorified friendlies and qualifier games, only for the actual World Cup to arrive and Cubarsí is the one going while Huijsen watches from home. @BouafifNour Letting go of Maresca was among the worst thing that Chelsea could have done and not backing Alonso with some experienced players and carrying on with their current approach would be just as bad.

I think he will succeed there. Alonso clearly wasn’t the problem at Real Madrid, and I think Chelsea will give him the platform to play his football much better. I can already see his 3-4-2-1 fitting them perfectly.

Keep seeing Joao Pedro links to Barcelona lmao. Chelsea literally signed him last summer for £60m. In what world do Barcelona think he is affordable? Especially after this season too. Would easily cost £100m minimum.
