@Dkaitiff @cruncherwax This is biggest disincentive to extra work when for most FT consultants the marginal tax rate for it will be 63.25%. That’s ignoring cliff edge for 30hours free nursery & childcare vouchers which could lead to negative take home pay. Make it 45%>100k

@cruncherwax A lot of consultants are caught in the 60 %plus bracket which is really unfair. How about changing this if we are not going to be given a good pay rise.

I'm a doctor. Current NHS pension taxation rules are unfairly hitting senior doctors hard with many forced to retire early/reduce hours. This crisis cant go on. @jeffsmithetc as my MP, please will you attend @TheBMA pensions event on Weds 6 July

@goldstone_tony @BMA_Pensions @BMA_GP I am sorry to say but if this is the case then it may be time to retire from the NHS. I would imagine if something is not done within the next 3 months as you have to hand in 3 months notice, people will have to consider this option

Or maybe they do understand and are just ignoring it.

Unless issue of ridiculously punitive pension taxes are resolved @sajidjavid @RishiSunak, I’m afraid it’s entirely predicable waiting lists are going up Need to start listening to @BMA_Pensions & offer an enduring solution (like the judicial pension scheme) RT if you agree!

@helengilburt I think that people and government feel that patients with mental health problems don't get better. This is obviously not the case though.

Mixed feelings about this statement - welcome recognition of mental health, but MH services have established waiting time standards which form part of the NHS backlog - not some separate 'social backlog' thetimes.co.uk/article/3b791a…

Completely agree @doctor_oxford. Looking at a single doctor is pointless when the profession as a whole has had a pay cut of 30pc over a decade. And comparing different professions equally pointless. Meanwhile, in other news, the Mail pays its editor over £2.5m/yr

I think its VITALLY important to point out these are infections after the FIRST DOSE ONLY and that this government is not listening to @pfizer and @who about spacing of second dose. It is of PARAMOUNT importance to vaccinate all eligible heath workers in 2nd dose in next week RT
