Again, it doesn't make sense that, in a country of over 200m people, Lagos is the only place with opportunities. We can't all live in Lagos ffs, it's the smallest state by land area.

GOLD and Bronze for Nigeria!!!!🥇🥉 Tobi Amusan 🇳🇬 stormed to GOLD in the women’s 100mH at the African Championships in Ghana, adding to her impressive medal haul on the continental level. She wins Nigeria's first GOLD of the Championships. Adaobi Tabugbo got out brilliantly and held her own, grabbing Bronze in a strong battle for the other placements.

There’s not a single benefit I’m enjoying from this government. You can’t debate my reality with me. I buy fuel and pay for utilities. This government is doing nothing for me. This is not social contract.

Minors beat another minor to death as far back as 2002. Like how deranged do you have to be to beat another child to death at such a young age my goodness. Omo.
archivi.ng@StartArchiving

In 2002, a student of Government College, Birnin Kudu in Jigawa State was beaten to death by his schoolmates over allegations of homosexuality, after weeks of rising tension the school authorities had failed to address. According to TELL, for some time, students had been expressing anger over suspected homosexual activities within the dormitories, but the situation was largely ignored until it turned fatal. The victim, Inusa Yakubu, a finalist, was caught in the dead of night after allegedly sneaking into bed with another man, Abbas, a former staff of the Jigawa State Fire Service who had been temporarily sheltered within the college quarters and had long been suspected by students. His interactions with boys in the dormitories, often described as inappropriate, had fueled rumours for months. Some students had even reported his behaviour to members of staff, but no serious action was taken. That night, both men were caught in a compromising situation. Students descended on them immediately, attacking them with sticks and clubs. In the chaos that followed, Abbas managed to escape despite sustaining serious injuries, but Yakubu was not as fortunate. He was beaten and died before any help could reach him. The incident threw the school into crisis. The principal, Musa Yau, confirmed the killing and said several students were being interrogated by the police. Investigations began swiftly, with a panel set up by the school authorities while the state police command moved in.

This is exactly the same thing I’ve been thinking about for a while. It appears like we’ve confused good policy design with good policy outcomes. Subsidy removal, FX liberalisation, tax reforms and those “hard economic policies” sound good and they appear correct on paper. But these policies assume a functioning safety net, productive capacity that can absorb the shock, and a state that reinvests the savings into the people. Strip those away and you’re not implementing any reform, you’re just transferring pain downward which is what this administration has been doing. Three years in and the people have not benefited from these policies. Commodity prices up 3–4x, school fees unaffordable but ofc, there is NELFUND lol, real wages destroyed. The “savings” from subsidy removal haven’t visibly returned to citizens in any form. Good policies without structural follow-through aren’t good policies. They’re just austerity disguised as improvements and we all would be used as collateral damages for the perceived improvement.

Something about Nigeria’s economy isn’t adding up. Good policies but fragile reality. What are the warning signs? Watch the full breakdown: youtu.be/lIr4ScQy8sg

@TheSerahIbrahim My current situation with Landshop , bought land for years. Did charting this year to sell, only to see the land is under government acquisition. Buying land in lagos is a huge huge risk! Won't try it again.

Sorry, I'm not even being difficult but the push back to this tweet is interesting. It says "most nigerians" not all and also includes a graphic that shows what's real milk and what's not. We know the average nigerian isn't buying a tin of Peak whole milk powder which was around N28,000 last time I checked like a year ago. What exactly is the problem?
gst@wearegst

Most Nigerians think they are drinking milk. They are drinking Fat-Filled Milk Powder (FFMP). In the EU, FFMP can’t be sold as milk, it must be labelled as a milk ingredient, not a dairy product. Here, it’s “milk”. Nigerians are eating what others aren’t allowed to call food.

The truth is most of us grew up using the products from these companies. We grew up on Milo, Nido etc. Plus Nestle is one of the higher paying companies in the country, employing hundreds. So when you come out and say "Nestle is bad", naturally there is going to be pushback.

Not a single sacrifice this President has made. When the economy is hardest, he makes zero sacrifice and lives large. Came into power and splurged on a new Jet, Yatch, mansion for VP, fleet of armored SUV, and billions for travel. Has a big cabinet with some of the most incompetent ministers we have seen. We now have an apartheid power supply system that has gotten worst. He goes off grid and splurges on solar. Fuel prices are high he mouths the same worthless CNG plan and tells Nigerians to be grateful. People are being killed in hundreds and lazily tweets 2 days later and when he manages go get himself to visit the victims, he addresses them at the airport. Every other day, something is being named after him. No decorum or class. Just embracing and encouraging shocking levels of subserviency from the shameless political class. Nigerians pay more for everything. A generation of young people are having their productive years wasted with no form of care or remorse. I have benefited absolutely nothing from Tinubu’s government. He promises better future that requires sacrifices. Sacrifices he has shown no interest in making. A leader should be an example. Make some sacrifices. Show you care. I don’t respect it!
