Mel Kiper Jr. on Lavonte David during the 2012 NFL Draft: “I love Lavonte David. To me, you coached Derrick Brooks. He’s that type of player.” David ended up in Tampa — the same team Derrick Brooks played for — and retired this week with the exact same number of tackles as Brooks: 1,714, which is tied for the most in Buccaneers history. Pretty freaking cool.
