@atrupar I would think "professional degree" is very commonly understood to be anything that culminates in professional licensure, so no reason for this to be under discussion other than weird anti-public school ideology

It's funny how "I'm a tech reporter and this is my work" is so frequently her defense but I rarely see any associated reporting. Like, if you're writing a story about Grok image generation, fine! But she clearly isn't, and "I have to use AI for all my personal tasks" does not follow from "I have to know how AI tools work."

Mitchell polling memos have been VERY opinionated or strange " "It is important to remember that with two women and with one man, the man has an advantage because the women vote will be divided almost equally.”

MICHIGAN Mitchell polls Dem Primary (published Tuesday): El-Sayed 28%, Stevens 18%, McMorrow 17% GE polls posted overnight: 🔴 Mike Rogers 42% 🔵 Abdul El Sayed 41% 🔴 Mike Rogers 43% 🔵 Mallory McMorrow 41% 🔴 Mike Rogers 42% 🔵 Haley Stevens 39%

Likely question rotation to reduce ordering effects + drop-offs. Person A gets asked Mallory first, says "ok gotta walk the dog" and hangs up. Person B gets AES and completes. This would be very odd if polling the 3-way primary but not weird for 3 different GE ballots. (I have not read the poll in any detail and not vouching for it, just answering in a vacuum.)

Probably only makes McMorrow's margin worse by about a point, but why the discrepancy? Why don't they all have the same sample size and demo breakdown? Odd.
Andrew Baumann@abaumania

@umichvoter An odd thing about thing about this Mitchell poll. They list their sample size as different for each of the three different candidates (601 for AES, 607 for MM, and 600 for HS) - and the MM sample has more Republicans.

@sachalouise I wish I felt like I had to ask/research whether reporters called him out on suggesting that "an independent thing" in any way applies to a company coordinating with its own PAC vs. with candidates for office It's an A+ lying via half-truth line

@harrisonjaime I think it’s pretty obvious the report doesn’t exist in any meaningful form, not that the party is covering up a revelation that DSA candidates would sweep every statewide election if everyone like, fires Jef Pollock or something Which is probably worse to be clear

There are two windows to release a report like this without it becoming a distraction: 2025 or after the 2026 midterms. And let’s be honest, a lot of people are making huge assumptions that they are about to learn something earth shattering. But what really struck me was this: y’all spent two straight days talking about and promoting your interview with Ken, while posting virtually nothing about the Callais decision on the very day the crown jewel of the Civil Rights Movement was gutted and Jim Crow 2.0 was effectively reborn. Think about that. You weren’t the only ones but that silence spoke volumes to a lot of us. And beyond that, the interview and the fallout from it created a massive distraction that continues to drain time and resources from the DNC: communications staff managing chaos and other stories, fundraising teams dealing with donor anxiety, leadership forced into damage control. Those are resources and hours that should have been focused on Callais, protecting voting rights, and preparing for the midterms.
Tommy Vietor@TVietor08

The reason to release the DNC audit is to learn from the mistakes of the past so we don’t make them again and suffer another catastrophic defeat like 2024. Winning is how we protect voting rights.

I just can’t get over how stupid this was. It’s genuinely like, first day of campaign school to know that the move here is to say nothing about a story like this. If a reporter asks, you just say, “nah, we’re just focused on our message, not gonna get into the mud on it/talk to Abdul.” This coordinated amplification just sprayed an absolute firehose of shit all over @MalloryMcMorrow and immediately removed any semblance of heat on El-Sayed
Hannah Lindow@hannahlindow

Abdul El-Sayed has made his supposed medical credentials a centerpiece of his campaign, but the truth is he never held a medical license, never did his residency, never passed the boards, and never practiced medicine independently. If Michigan voters can't trust El-Sayed to be honest about something that is so central to his entire rationale for running, how can they trust him to be honest about what he'd do as a United States Senator?

This type of dishonesty from Team McMorrow is disgusting. El-Sayed graduated from medical school, which includes patient care experience, had advanced training in epidemiology, and worked as a physician in charge of public health in Detroit & Wayne County. McMorrow must dissociate herself from these lies or will show herself to be unfit for public office.
Team McMorrow@TeamMcMorrow

Turns out Abdul El-Sayed misrepresented, over and over, being a physician. He’s not. The truth? He’s never held a medical license, never did a residency, and never passed his boards.

“As someone who worked directly in a close capacity to him I don’t have anything damning on him but I assure you there’s some scandal regardless based purely on my desire for there to be one.”
Jordan Domingue@DomingueJordan

As someone who worked on both his campaigns and resigned from his senate bid due to his character, the real story is WHY he didn’t complete his residency. His story is too clean, self serving, and reeks of fabrication. Whoever finds out the truth of that why, they will expose his real character to all.

I think it is fundamentally insane to hear that your head of tax is your highest token user and it makes me genuinely wonder how good Anthropic’s accounting is
Patrick OShaughnessy@patrick_oshag

A list of surprising and mind-boggling stats from this conversation: - NDR is over 500% on an annualized basis - Anthropic's first dollar of revenue came in March of 2023 - Over 90% of code inside Anthropic is written by Claude Code - The head of tax is the heaviest token user inside the company - Run rate revenue went from $9B to $30B in one quarter (reportedly, on pace for $50B by end of next month) - Cowork is growing faster than Claude Code did at the same point in its life - Signed two double-digit million-dollar commits in a 20-minute Uber ride to the podcast - Krishna spends 30-40% of his time on compute decisions - 9 of the Fortune 10 are customers - $100B combined commitment of compute - 30 different product and feature releases in January alone - A prior model found 22 security vulnerabilities in an open source codebase; Mythos found 250 - The finance team has built a library of over 70 Claude skills specific to finance - Anthropic raised $75 billion since Krishna joined two years ago - The day of the Series E first close was the day the DeepSeek news broke - When Meta and others made huge poaching offers, Anthropic lost two people on the technical side while other labs lost dozens - All seven co-founders are still at the company - The company is just over five years old
