Those who believe the lack of structure in college🏀is a good thing are selfish or dumb. Sports have been the PR for colleges but ROI has evaporated with expenses increasing much faster than revenue & no end in sight. Structure must be implemented & common sense must prevail.

The income tax on $500,000 ranges from $140,000 to $160,000. The agent might get 3 percent of the original deal, meaning $15,000. And any money the player pays for a trainer or other help would cut into the contract. So, the $500,000 sounds impressive but it won’t last forever.

NIL reminder: It sounds great when a college basketball player signs an NIL deal for $500,000. But when you learn that the player has to pay taxes on the $$$, pay his agent a percentage and often hire a pro trainer to help develop the player’s talent, there’s not much left.

Not a good hire, but a GREAT HIRE by the Atlantic 10 in Dan Leibovitz. Another thing to keep in mind: Leibovitz worked for years at Temple under John Chaney and has deep roots at the school. The first step to revamping this conference is getting the Owls back in basketball.

The ever increasing entitlement in college basketball is sickening. Too many players are without gratitude and perspective, while some coaches fuel the fire with a lack of accountability, discipline & responsibility. Coaches like Hurley, Sampson & Izzo are what the game needs.
