The Aztecs led UC Irvine 25-23 at the half. And the teams were tied 55-55 with 2:15 remaining. But Panganiban hit 2 free throws & Nala Williams then made 4 straight charity shots plus got a clutch steal to seal the victory.

@arhooptalk That 1968 UCLA rout was revenge for an earlier season meeting with Houston in which Elvin Hayes had 39 points & 15 rebounds in a 71-69 win over UCLA & Lew Alcindor, who played with an eye injury & only had 15 points (4 of 18 FGs). The Cougars’ win ended UCLA’s 47-game win streak.

1968 Final Four. UCLA with the blowout of Houston. More importantly, this photo is basketball art. And you want to talk about skill ? That skyhook is one helluva skill. That’s just a basketball truth.

@jrichardgoodman A fun watch as High Point never stopped attacking & got some huge clutch baskets from Chase Johnston, including the game winner. A motivational game to remember for all of the lower seeds left in the NCAA tournament. #MarchMadness #LifetimeMemories

@jrichardgoodman Agree — and the quality of the shot is often determined by the quality of the pass.

@jrichardgoodman The most impressive part of Caitlin’s game when I first watched her play in college was her elite passing. You knew if her teammates ran the floor, she’d find them for easy baskets. Of course, she can really shoot it & plays hard on D. But her passing is at a world-class level.

What Clark understands better than most ladies' players is the pass is basketball's greatest strength, it was on display in the USA team 👊

@arhooptalk Andy — Although I interviewed some NBA greats as a sportswriter in Hawaii, the 3 guys that I would have liked to have had a 3-hour lunch with & listened to their incredible stories would be the late greats Jerry West, Pete Maravich & Bill Walton. Old guys have the best stories.

Random Take: Steals, Blocks, Deflections. There is no wing player or guard in the game today that can match The Logo. That’s just a basketball truth.

@ClintParks05 @TeamCPSA Layden’s father, Lawrence, is on the impressive list of great Kohala High basketball players. Lawrence was a terrific athlete & deadly shooter & fit in well with the Cowboys’ running & pressing teams. The Kaukas — a talented family. UH-Hilo has a rising star in its program.

@ClintParks05 @TeamCPSA @UHHiloMBB @LaydenKauka @MrYeahIKnow @PRO16League @HawaiiPrepWorld @ESPNHonolulu Kohala High has an incredible history of developing great basketball players, including Bradley Estabilio, Don Fernandez, Sean Francisco, O’shen Cazimero & now Layden Kauka, the best yet. Layden was the Hawaii State POY this past year, averaging 26.3 ppg on the state title team.

@jgd0634 I agree with you & Robert Parrish — that the 1986 Celtics would be too big, too talented & too physical for Jayson Tatum, Jalen Brown & the 2024 Celtics. And I’m confident that 6-foot-4 Dennis Johnson would make it a tough series while guarding & hounding either Tatum or Brown.
