Amazing arrogance. Did the US & Israel engage with Iran? Despite the costs for their stupidity being borne by the whole world economically. Till the US continues to reward 🇵🇰 despite its terrorist proclivities, leaning upon 🇮🇳 to talk is going to get you nowhere.
Elizabeth Threlkeld@ethrelkeld

U.S. policymakers should encourage quiet India-Pakistan engagement, make clear the costs of escalation to both sides, and work with partners to build a playbook for likely escalation pathways that clarifies which officials, messages, and levers they would use at each stage. (8)

@shiv_cybersurg Completely agree with you. Now though it is time to act against those who perpetrated the violence so that it serves as an example and a deterrent.

President's Rule is the Indian equivalent of British crown rule to tame rebellious state governments. Congress central governments have done it time and again. If it had been used in Bengal, it would have allowed Mamata and her goons to play victim. Mandatory elections after 6 mths would have given her power again. A proper election was necessary, after eliminating bogus voters and giving security to genuine voters

People need to stop exaggerating about the Missing Link. Saying things like the Mumbai-Pune expressway was ALWAYS jammed since its inception and the missing link is the manna from the heavens. A lot of us weren’t born yesterday. I’ve been driving on the expressway since 2005 and I’ve forgotten the number of times I’ve sped through without a single traffic jam. I’ve done it comfortably in 3 hours. Either direction. Sometimes even less, in the days when there were no speed guns. I know traffic is heavy. I know people with poor driving skills take to the expressway thinking it’s an F1 track. And crash. I know trucks take up all the lanes at night because the highway traffic police is missing. Things are messy, but please stop bullshitting about the e-way like you are the only one on it and nobody else knows anything about the traffic or driving on it. I can say a lot more about driving on the expressway, but I won’t because some overzealous idiot might decide to file a case!

@aparanjape @IPL I’ve lost all interest in the IPL . Haven’t watched a single match over last 7-8 seasons. 1. ⬆️ boundaries by 10 yards 2. Some life in the pitches 3. Get rid of impact player

With routine 200+ scores and chases, @IPL this year is getting a bit boring. Agree? Wonder how the all important TV ratings are doing. In most cases, there is hardly any contest between the bat and the ball. The pitches, boundary sizes, rules... are all weighing in too much in the batting favor. This needs some correction... fast. Start with better (balanced) pitches. Extend boundaries. Explore other changes like reducing power-play fielding restrictions... a lot can be done - but there must be a will and some introspection to do it. Thoughts?

For those claiming ‘this year is the hottest ever,’ here’s a reality check from past records and archived reports. April 2019 and April 2022 recorded comparable—and in some regions even higher—temperatures. Such heat events are not unprecedented. The difference now is visibility. Earlier, limited station density and reliance on coastal observatories meant many inland extremes went underreported. Today, with denser observations and constant data sharing on social media, every spike gets amplified. So it’s not always that heat is new—it’s that awareness and exposure have increased. Below are newspaper clippings from 28th April 2022 published in #Sakal, #Loksatta, and #Pudhari, where my analysis on similar heat conditions was covered. #KonkanWeather #Maharashtra #April #summer #Mumbai #Thane #Palghar #Raigad #MMR #heatwave

Tell me a piece of trivia about your city that you think most people will not know. Here's mine: The official name of Marine Drive in Mumbai is Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road.

Who was in charge of the Marathi signs at Adani's Navi Mumbai International Airport? The imperative "bāher paḍā" in Marathi translates either to "step out", or worse, "get out", depending on tone. Just "bāher" is enough within standard practice to convey an "exit".
