Planetarium show tonight was Exoplanets, really great movie, and I like talking about Fermi's Paradox after shows like that! 🔭🪐

This week in my intro astronomy class we talked about colors of stars, what that tells us, and why there are no green stars. Now we are watching Seeing! which is an excellent (free) planetarium show - lots of science: astronomy, physics, biology, & chemistry

@moosetracks75 Grape nuts. Arguably a dense cereal. I use it to make granola and mix into oatmeal. I got tired of using a whole small box for one granola batch ... but might have over done it. The price per ounce was AMAZING.

I'm not going to say I didn't know I was ordering 40 lbs of cereal, but I really didn't know it was 40 lbs of cereal until I went for thr box 📦 and found out it was 40 lbs 🥴

I don't know if I have a more appropriate planetarium show for Valentine's Day, but we've got a full house for Solar Superstorms 😁 🔭 So the show will scare them, and then I'll make up for it by telling the Cassiopeia/Andromeda/Perseus story 🤣

First (day) light for the last telescope we'll be taking with us for the eclipse research! And got a halfway decent image of the Sun and it's huge spots! 🔭

Pretty eventful morning, but something exciting is about to happen...

In the Topics class I'm teaching we're moving on to eclipses. So, what are your favorite/best historical eclipse facts, results, etc? I'm discussing the 1878 total eclipse, discovery of helium, Eddington expeditions, Columbus. Any other good stories, books, something else?

First (day) light with another new telescope! 🔭 We were able to get the Sun in the camera and in focus with both telescopes. Now just one more setup to get done... Who wouldn't want to take astro classes @AngeloState ??

Finally had a clear night, so we got the telescopes out after the planetarium show! Almost 100 people got to see Jupiter, the Moon, and a couple of nebulae in Orion.

My involvement is not "official" yet because of a weird bidding process, but I'm excited about this project! news.sonoma.edu/article/sonoma…

@astrogrant Out of curiosity, do you happen to know the acceptance rate? It looks interesting, but it seems like something bigger name people, and people at bigger places, would get selected for.

Please please please Volunteer! Huge and wonderful opportunity and advocacy for the field is needed in DC, now more than ever.

One of my favorite planetarium shows - Stars narrated by @MarkHamill. Great information about the stellar life cycle for all ages. It makes me feel old when I have to explain who Hamill is, though. Or when they say "isn't he the Joker?" (from the animated series) 🙄
