🚨 LUNA WARNS THUNE AGAINST STRIPPING SAVE AMERICA ACT FROM HOUSE BILLS House Republicans are attempting to attach provisions of the SAVE America Act to legislation moving toward the Senate, increasing pressure on Republican leaders to force a vote before the midterm elections. Representative Anna Paulina Luna has warned Senate Majority Leader John Thune against using procedural tactics to remove the election legislation once it reaches the Senate. Luna said that if Thune fills the amendment tree or blocks efforts to restore the measure, responsibility for its removal would rest “solely” with the Senate leader. The SAVE America Act would require documentary proof of citizenship for federal voter registration and impose voter-identification requirements. It has passed the House but remains stalled in the Senate. President Trump has made its passage a central legislative priority. 🎯 MY ASSESSMENT The battle is shifting from whether Republicans publicly support election-integrity legislation to whether Senate leadership is prepared to use its procedural power to advance it. Luna is attempting to remove any ambiguity in advance: if the House sends the measure over and Senate leaders strip it out, she wants voters to know exactly where she believes responsibility lies. Polling cited by the White House shows strong support for the individual provisions, including 81% for voter ID, 75% for proof of citizenship and 80% for removing non-citizens from voter rolls. That is not the same as saying 80% support every provision of the full bill, so the figures should be stated precisely.
