@JolietWeather Still too close for me, those winds take out so much!
English

As expected a tornado watch has been issued south of our area and does not include Will or Kendall County. #ilwx

English

With the passage of the front/lake breeze that pushed through most of Will County the most likely target for tornadoes has pushed just south of the front with warm and muggy conditions in place. This does not mean Joliet is cleared from severe storms. Heavy rain, flash flooding, strong winds and large hail still very much in play. And we can’t completely rule out a tornado either just yet. But the likelihood for tornadoes has certainly decreased. #ilwx

Realizing there’s a chance that Quentin Tarantino may become a casualty of the Iranian missile strikes in Tel Aviv
EZPZresurrection@EZPZresurrected
Quentin Tarantino lives in Israel and people upload blurry pictures of him stomping around Tel Aviv like they're Bigfoot sightings.

So rude of @Xfinity and @comcast to cut #LauraDern out of the #JurassicPark commercials. They play constantly and cut around or cut her out of every one! I get it everyone loves #SamNeill & #JeffGoldblum, but show the lady some love! #womeninherittheearth

The book is so much darker and more complicated than what they showed. It's not about two people who should be together, it's about how that kind of obsession ruins lives. Catherine and Heathcliff aren't romantic, they're deeply damaged people who hurt everyone around them. That's what makes the novel so powerful and uncomfortable to read.
I think what frustrates me most is that the novel is already so intense and gripping on its own. There's so much depth there with the class dynamics, the generational trauma, the way pain gets passed down and how revenge consumes everything. You don't need to soften it or make it more accessible. The story works because it's harsh and unflinching. Brontë knew exactly what she was doing when she wrote characters this difficult.
Turning it into a sweeping romance just feels like such a missed opportunity. The novel has survived this long because it refuses to give us easy answers or comfortable feelings. It challenges readers to sit with really dark human emotions. That's rare and valuable, especially in classic literature. We don't need another pretty period piece about longing looks and repressed feelings. We needed someone to actually engage with what the book is saying about human nature.
People who haven't read the book are going to think that's what Brontë wrote, and that honestly pisses me off. They'll miss out on understanding why this novel matters, why it's still taught and discussed.
I really hope this doesn't become how people remember Wuthering Heights going forward. The book deserves so much better than this.

I had not planned to write on it, but as a scholar of English Literature, I have no choice. Emerald Fenell's "Wuthering Heights" is the most offensive, boring and misguided adaption I have ever had the displeasure of watching; utterly disrespectful to the legacy of Emily Brontë in a way that feels both anti-literature and anti-art. It is beyond baffling how anyone could interpret the novel this way and create an adaptation that so completely forsakes the core principles of this amazing story. Marketed as a tragic, swoony love story in time for Valentine's Day, this feels like a movie made for people who need a second screen at all times; none of its complexities or moral abysses remain in this rotten corpse of a movie.
Like a piece of glorified fan-fiction made by an upper-class, rich white woman who neither understood the intricacies of the novel's characters nor the racial and socio-economic factors that motivated them, the film completely lacks its driving force and red thread. Utterly miscast, poorly written and terribly acted, its only redeeming qualities lie in Linus Sandgren's beautiful cinematography and the somewhat interesting production design; from a mere aesthetic standpoint, it mostly works, but never enough to hide its complete ineptness as a gothic tale of love and hate.
No amount of sexual charging - which, to be frank, is still incredibly vanilla and not nearly as freaky as some people want you to think - can conceal the giant missteps of this endeavour. Emerald Fennell continues to be a perplexing director and putting the title Wuthering Heights in quotation marks is even more revealing of her complete inability as a writer.
One of the worst movies of the decade that I despise with fiery passion.

@lucero_c10 So it's just that Patriot fans hate him? I was getting nowhere with Google. But it's was hilarious.
English

@Doe_Darling Hahaha to Eli? I imagine they were the Pats fans. He played in the NY Giants and the two Super bowls were won exactly by the best team of Tom Brady’s Patriots.
English

@BengalYouTube @Simbrrr Okay, thank you. Cuz another manning followed and they cheered, so I was like Google tell me snd I got nothing.
English

@Doe_Darling @Simbrrr Patriots fans in attendance salty that Eli beat their team twice in the Super Bowl creating a way one rivalry in the head of Patriots fans despite the Giants not caring about them at all
English

@SharRaygene Help a Green Day fan, what was that about.? It was funny!
