At the @ForeignPolicy (in partnership with @DohaForum) Live panel themed “Rethinking Risk,” moderated by @RaviReports, I joined @abisat (@MoETLeb), @RGrynspan (Secretary-General @UNCTAD), and @SvonFriedeburg (MD, Global Head of Public Sector, Citi), to examine how geopolitical shifts are reshaping global stability, trade, and investment. I outlined Nigeria’s approach to risk management in West Africa; one that balances diplomatic engagement with security responsibility, responds to pressures beyond the region, and maintains Nigeria’s role as a stabilising actor. I also spoke to Nigeria’s strategic autonomy: engaging all partners on the basis of mutual interest, avoiding over-alignment, and applying our size and convening power to protect sovereignty. I highlighted Nigeria’s focus on addressing the root causes of regional risk through initiatives such as the Regional Partnership for Democracy and the West Africa Economic Summit, alongside the positive direction of our economy, expanding talent base, and strategic relevance in emerging energy and supply chains.
