@aidannonx I’m not sure that you do. You may be able to name more feast days and cite Catholic doctrine to the letter more than the average K-12 Catholic, but even the dull cradles have a better spiritual understanding of the religion and it’s community in comparison to your avg convert

As an aside, I hate knowing so much about Catholicism compared to cradle Catholics, mostly because I’m a bad person and I feel like the bare minimum is just knowing what you believe. OCIA made me feel awkward for that. I took the understanding serious

We are truly blessed. Our new life in America has been an amazing journey so far. It has been only 8 weeks since our arrival, we have our own car. My house is fully furnished, my cupboards are filled with food, I have never owned so much clothing in my life. We have a future!!

On a serious note, I am a convert from Episcopalian church. I have spent a great deal of time and effort in community organizing in a normie way - KofC events, RCIA welcoming, setting up coffee after church so people can meet each other, that type of thing. It’s harder than it looks and it’s a common sentiment among good faith converts that they miss the community of their smaller, more socially communal Protestant churches. This is true of both more traddy parishes and boomer novus ordo parishes, of which I love and attend both.
