NEW The Wealthy House Candidate w/a History of Bawdy Facebook Posts Peter Chatzky speculated about how much Melania Trump would charge him for sex. Joked about sleeping with an intern. And boasted—evidently facetiously—about paying to watch him masturbate nytimes.com/2026/03/19/nyr…

@MisterMucc Sorry not trying to be obtuse, but I’m struggling to imagine what an alternative, non-premise-granting answer would have sounded like and how it would have shut down that line of inquiry. What do you think would have been a better answer?

@TimmyFacciola_ The premise that it is a legitimate basis for criticism. That the posts of an author Mamdani‘s wife did work for have any bearing on him or his mayoralty

I’m sorry but the idea the mayor egged on or enabled *Jon Levine* by responding to his reporting last week is beyond stupid. There’s no world in which he doesn’t run a Rama n-word story if he has the receipts, regardless of whether mayor has responded to his past reporting.
Kate Willett@katewillett

Good thing everyone attacked a Palestinian refugee last week to stop this bad faith attack on the Mayor’s wife that’s definitely still happening.

@TimmyFacciola_ First of all, I have no doubt that Levine would have continued, regardless of a response from Mamdani. If you‘re asked something by the press corps, by all means answer it, but the answer does not have to accept the premise. And fundamentally, the people decide on its legitimacy.

This is so detached from reality. One of press corp’s most professional reporters, ABC’s NJ Burkett asked about Levine’s story last week. Mayor gave a straightforward response and that was the end of that. I can assure you that Levine was going to continue publishing regardless of whether NJ asked about last week’s story. I also don’t think you want to live in a world in which politicians get to decide which lines of inquiry are legitimate—I know I don’t. And the fastest way to get reporters to ask questions you don’t want to answer is to signal you don’t want to answer them.

@TimmyFacciola_ If you respond sincerely to insincere criticism, you acknowledge that the premise of their criticism had any basis in the first place, you give them credibility, and you give up the power to dismiss or simply ignore criticism of that nature in the future.

Tisch also pushes back on criticism of Mayor Zohran Mamdani taking out of the budget the former mayor's proposed addition of 5,000 cops to the NYPD headcount. "The narrative that we cut 5,000 cops is frankly absurd because they never existed," Tisch says.

.@NYPDPC again throws cold water on idea that nypd officers were leaving bc of poor work environment. She says there was a surge in hiring 20 years ago, which led to an expected surge in retirements “if you care about hiring, you can hire”

What category is the “England Get Out of Ireland” banner in the parade every year
Don Irish@DuckIrish

@ScottforFlorida @TheLeoTerrell @NYCMayor The St Patrick's parade has always had a no politics rule no signs for being gay or the IRA it's about heritage if Mamdani can not do that don't invite him. There are few things left where politics is not at the forefront the St Patrick's parade is one of the last things left
