Just run the stats for Signal's #automation performance in September 18. For 1 clinic alone it did 27 hrs worth of human work (creating invoices, letters, clinic lists etc) in just 6 mins. That's ~£550 worth of work - with a machine cost of £0.07. The revolution is coming.

This is epoxy resin ocean wave art—a cured panel mimicking rippling turquoise ocean surface for wall decor. To make one: - Square silicone mold (~12x12") - Clear epoxy resin + turquoise/white pigments - Mix, pour in thin layers, tilt/swirl/heat gun for waves - Cure 24-48hrs, demold, sand edges, mount in shadow box frame Tools: gloves, stir sticks, torch. Start small! 🌊

@AlsieLC Slow-madding is a thing as well! Yep, I feel much the same as you. I need to be settled for several weeks at a time in one place. And no laptops on the beach.

Hot take: I'm unsure how people deal with the nomadic life and are constantly on the road. It looks fun on the outside; you're in a new place/country every few weeks. But I've been out of Dubai for only 3 weeks now, and I'm constantly thinking about what's next. All the timezone changes. All the routine changes. No stable social circle & activities. No stable gym & fav food spots. It's draining me both emotionally and physically. I cannot book more than one flight at a time because I don't know what's after that. I miss having my "home" that I can retreat back to. I miss decorating my own little nook. I miss the calm and peace that I don't have to worry about what's next. I'm making peace and dealing with what comes next. But I desperately hope all this can be over soon.

@RollingHedge Not to mention all the high earners who are emigrating. They won't be buying London property any time soon either.

Relieved to be fully out of London property since September last year. I no longer view real estate as a viable asset class (in the near term, or even medium term, future) per se. Moreover, who will buy all the £1m+ properties nationwide when the boomers die? Median wages are several multiples lower and due to inflation no one is saving anything approaching a deposit for such a property. Smells like a bubble waiting to pop. The market will be flooded with these ‘assets’ in the next 15-20 years and the prices will have to crater unless something changes. Perhaps AI increasing wages of the new managerial class will rise to meet it. But somehow I cynically doubt it. Meanwhile, you have to live somewhere of course and our home is very much that. A home, not an asset.

@evadne @CutMyTaxUK Yep, I fly out from France instead, much lower taxes, €60 for business class to fly out of EU. Not paying 10x more to fly out of London.

Another delight facing us in April is a sharp increase in the cost of airfares with a 15% increase in ticket prices because Rachel hiked Air Passenger Duty (APD). This is clearly part of Labour's effort to reduce the cost of living. Since APD was introduced, long-haul rates have risen by roughly 950% in economy and roughly 2,400% in premium classes.

@drethelin I've seen this with Emirates once before as well, when a flight to Sri Lanka in First was cheaper than business class.

@LoganARobison None of this prevents you from taking the customer to small claims court/sending it to collections to get the original amount plus your costs. You have all the proof you need and a chatGPT letter before action is cheap to generate.

@0bNARA So to operate at all in the UK within their business model, Costco had to find some way of limiting the number of non-trade customers who could get memberships. Maybe they didn't pick a *good* way, but that's why the restriction exists.

Who remembers Uzzy Ahmed, the cockiest boxer of all time ending up chewing the bottom rope after getting sparked out in round 1? I watched this live. The walk on was longer than the fight. 😆 I think Ashley Sexton made a lot of people happy that night. 👇👇

Was far easier to get your songs onto an iPod than a MiniDisc player, iPod software superior with (smart) playlists etc, not to mention you could store many more songs on an iPod Still loved my Minidisc player though. Light blue Sony one with a tinted yellow screen! Screamingly 00s

Sony Minidisc was peak Hi-Fi. It sounded as good as CD, without the drawback of being easily-scratched. It didn't skip as a Walkman, & you could record on your home Minidisc separate, easier than cassette tape. It was also a perfect format for car audio systems. Why did it fail?

I am currently in Dubai trying to find a way home. My stay here has been short and a little surreal but what’s evident here is just how well governed it is. Everywhere I’ve been is clean, organised and well designed with beautiful buildings and walkways. I feel safe. People are friendly and seem happy, doing well for themselves. The Dubai government is doing a great job assuring citizens and visitors about how the military is protecting them and is looking after those who are having enforced extended stays by paying their hotel bills for them. The whole place has impressed me. Now I think of back home in the UK. Dirty streets. Potholes. Everywhere feels like it’s degrading under successive governments that simply don’t care. Their primary objective has been to remain in power, not to build a better, more secure country. They’ve run our police and military into the ground. Filled them and our institutions with toxic woke ideology. Blindly following mad net zero policies that cripple the country. Allowing hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants in, not taking any real action to stop it. Turning a blind eye to rapes and murders. And even though they must see the destruction they are creating, they plough on regardless. And the worst thing? The left wing nut jobs who think this is great and we should have more of it and should surrender our country to Islamists in the process. Hearing the Adham call to prayer in Dubai is atmospheric in the old part of the city. It’s part of the culture. It belongs here. It does not belong in Old Trafford or on Tower Bridge where it is a show of dominance. Our politicians over the last couple of decades should be ashamed of themselves but they still don’t see how incompetent and destructive they have been. And as for Starmer, he sold his soul years before. He’s not only an embarrassment, he’s a real danger to this country. Our country is teetering on the brink and he’d happily push it over the edge. So would the Greens who would only break down society further before having to relinquish power to the Islamist extremists. And still the left cry for more. Our once great country feels like a hollowed out shell, stripped of its dignity and its prosperity. Pimped out to satisfy self serving politicians. We have to stop the rot before it’s too late. Some days I worry it’s already passed that point.
