@RCSeeds @KSiEdge So that’s how you keep those April planted beans from freezing after planting. I always wondered what you did.....

A big “Thank You” to @BenKCB_Diesel for another excellent, intensive management @PioneerSeeds PKP soybean trial in the books today for 2019. Great to see the yield potential of these newest genetics under this level of mnmgt throughout the year. @DonKyle10 @mcclurewm @TheisAg

@scott_stelpflug So basically we’re the Siskel and Ebert’s of plant porn? I’ve never felt better about my career choice.

@matt_montgo @baldagronomist Did you have a lot of whiteflies down your way this year. There was a bunch up in N IL in August and September.

@baldagronomist⁩ (my fellow bald brother from another mother) couldn’t help but think of your recent viral disease reminder. Growers are noticing those occasional green beans with odd pod/ almost no pod development. Appreciate your heads up.

@TABeyrer The purpling only happens on purple flowered varieties. It occurs where sunlight is hitting the stem. you do not see the purpling of the stems on white flowered varieties. Cool nights seem to elevate expression.

My daughter found a swallowtail butterfly caterpillar in our garden and she is raising it. It likes carrot leaves. #butterflyfarming #entomology

@skporter Looks like diaporthe pod and stem blight to me. The microsclerotia of charcoal rot would be inside stem. Been a lot more PSB around last few years. Thoughts?

@JasonSchley @steeke7 @vailcat Thanks for sharing. Most people don’t reallize soybeans set their initial root systems based on planting depth like a corn plant. So planting depth does impact root structure.

@steeke7 @vailcat Yes structure and strength is better and agree we lost a few seeds per acre. But it’s obvious we made up for it.

Follow up beans that lodged due to planting depth 167 pods to 89 for a 10 plant average. The lodged ones are putting pods on now that won’t make it. Energy was wasted, nutrient mobility slowed down and that’s the story! If it was August I think they could of made up some ground

@bartlow_a With it coming in late, yield losses will be less than when we get it in August. The first move to mitigate losses from SDS would be selecting genetic tolerance. I like Pioneer 31A22X, 33A53X, 34A79X, and 36A83x.....solid genetics against SDS and very good yield.

The fun continues in 2019. SDS is making an appearance in W. IL. All of my beans are treated with Ilevo as well. Ready to switch to Saltro when it gets approved.

@MikeDillon06 I’m guessing P24A80X’s planted mid May..... not P23A15’s. Could be P21A28’s if not A80’s
