There was much excitement for our local crew on the Fionnphort - Iona ferry with the Prince and Princess of Wales enjoying the view from the upper deck.

Yesterday while coming off Ben Ledi I tripped on an innocuous section of path and tried to protect my expensive camera while falling forward. I ended up face-planting on the path, splitting my lip and scraping my chin along a boulder. Lots of blood but only a minor injury, really. In over 30 years of walking and being in the outdoors it’s the first time I’ve ever had any form of blood-letting injury. I could easily rationalise it as something that was long overdue, given some of the sketchy places I go to. But, honestly, it’s shaken me up a bit. Was it just bad luck or was it a symptom of getting older? I’m not sure, but there’s nothing like the hills for both beauty and introspection.

Well #StormEowyn will live long in the memory banks, for the severe winds, but also the extensive damage. The core of strongest winds are now in the north, and winds are gradually coming down hour by hour from the south, but still windy. I am signing off for the night. Take care!

Another post on a FB group where an occasional walker admits getting lost on a recent trip. Asks a reasonable question, and is met with multiple replies from forum blawhards telling him to spend two or three days on an outdoor course learning to use map and compass. (1/3)

Video from Ardtun shore. Tide was at its lowest - so was able to get out a bit. Fantastic place. The columns are so neat. The sea stack is "Biod an Sgairbh" - "point of the cormorant"
