@JoyceWhiteVance I’m a huge Tiger fan, but this intervention from Trump stinks. He got a 2nd chance in 2017 after a DUI. Also, he is dating Vanessa Trump - DJ T should stay out of this but he won’t😡.

Delighted to be back in the full-time journalism game shortly, joining Newsquest's Scottish Borders team. And back in an office too for the first time since pre-Covid! Big change but really looking forward to it.

@RepublicanSons Excellent speech. I feel uplifted listening to Mary and, yet, frustrated that we cannot implement her vision. She could also have said the Faroes has connected main islands by tunnels not ferries.

@Erudite4Unity I can’t understand why CMAL (who order and own the shops leased to CalMac) are not receiving the bulk of the criticism for this saga. They specify design, sign off contracts etc. Don’t order ships unable to service the route. Equally, don’t go for unproven and difficult design.

Two new CalMac ferries delivered late and over-budget will not be able to dock at Ardrossan harbour until at least 2029. What a disgrace. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿📈 | Scotland U21 Player Ratings: After a very cold evening at Dens Park, Scotland U21 walk away with a point against Czech Republic U21. A win would have been massive for our hopes of qualifying for the U21 Euros, however there were a still some bright sparks from the team tonight. THREAD 🧵

@MikeNellis He blew 0% (just as he did in 2017). Problem is drug related. Possibly the heavy painkillers + anti inflammatories he is on taken to excess after so many surgeries. Also, seems to have a penchant for driving too fast.

@TheDerryCoo I remember going into a pub in Edinburgh and almost having to cut a path through the smokey atmosphere to reach the bar. When buying a used car you could tell from the discoloured interior it had belonged to a smoker. The friends who redecorated every year due to heavy smoking.

20 years ago today the smoking ban (opposed by Alex Salmond, who was in Westminster at that time) was introduced in Scotland. Best thing this country has ever done.

On what basis is a Chinese wind turbine made in Scotland more of a security threat than millions of cars, phones, tv's, Internet routers etc that are actually made in China?

@Grouse_Beater So presumably these plans include duelling of A9 and A96? A new western bypass for Dundee and a 3 lane M8 between our two largest cities? Yeah - there goes a flying pig😂🤬

WESTMINSTER Labour announce £millions to fix roads, not Scotland's, and not Blighty's local potholes UKGov has announced a massive £27 billion investment (partly made up of taxes from Scotland) into Blighty's Strategic Motorway Network. This will be used to “upgrade and future-proof” England's motorways and major A-roads. 'Future Proof' - good old England, looking after Number One. Spread across five years, the cash comes as part of the previously announced Road Investment Strategy 3. It will mainly focus on roughly five-and-a-half thousand miles of road managed by England's National Highways, and not by local authorities – although a tiny portion of the cash will support some locally managed schemes. Alongside general motorway resurfacing and pothole repairs, the Department for Transport says the investment will also bring improvements for several areas to bolster safety and traffic flow. The example gived include the A66 that connects Cumbria and North Yorkshire will be transformed from a single carriageway to a dual-carriageway between Junction 40 for the M6 and Junction 53 for the A1(M). Ageing bridges on the M6 built in the 1960s will also be renewed, while the funding also includes cash to add to the private investment for the new Lower Thames Crossing, which will eventually connect Kent and Essex. Colonialism - a one-way street. You take from your territories and use for your Roman city improvements.

Can’t have the Scottish Highlands getting investment that could instead go to England. Watch out for the deal being redone in a few months “down south” with the “national security concerns” having been magically addressed.
@GinaDavidson@ginadavidsonlbc

So the £1.5bn Ming Yang wind turbine project for the Highlands will not go ahead because of national security concerns. A UKG spokesman said: "Industry have sought our view on the use of these turbines in British waters and in our energy system. After careful consideration, 1/

@Sir_NickFaldo Counter intuitive I know, but make courses shorter. Risk/reward par 4 holes are fun to watch/play. They hold their own score-wise with bogies and doubles offsetting birdies and eagles. Short, well designed and defended par 3 holes get the pros thinking eg Augusta 12, Troon 8th.

@Sir_NickFaldo It is a pity that wonderful courses once able to host pro tournaments are no longer considered. For example Kings Course, Gleneagles or Dalmahoy near Edinburgh - they now make excellent ladies pro venues. No tee pegs is a great idea - like many good ideas it is the simplicity.

@BarryAnderson_ Not specific to Slattery, but I’m pleased to see cheating and lack of respect to your opponents being penalised in this fashion. The player penalised made a conscious choice that has denied his employers his services for 2 matches - hope Motherwell deal with it appropriately.

Four-game SFA ban for Motherwell's Callum Slattery for this. Two of the games suspended so he misses Falkirk and Hearts matches. Motherwell unhappy: "We will watch and expect consistency going forward so that Callum isn't treated differently to others."

@terracepodcast @Graeme_McGarry The latest synthetic pitch at Livi is very, very good. So much so you hear very little commentary about the pitch. It allows good football teams to play a technical game (sadly not Livi😂) and supporters just focus on the game.

@thejohnhannah It’s all to do with supposedly hitting net zero statistics. If we buy gas from Norway we are not drilling or producing it ourselves, which of course is smoke and mirrors because it comes from the same gas field. It is also an economic own goal scored in the name of net zero.

Why should the UK buy half it's gas from Norway, when it can buy all of it's gas from Scotland. Because we give it to them for free while they freeze our pensioners and double our energy costs.. #TooStupid? x.com/BBCPolitics/st…
