If you'll excuse me, I'm off make my fortune.
Today, I'm going to buy a failing, capital-intensive manufacturing business in a regional area, employing a few hundred people.
Tomorrow, I have a meeting with the State and Federal ministers for a billion dollar handout.
Straya!

Another day, *yet another* $2 billion for the private sector. This time Rio's aluminium smelter in Queensland. The federal government is fast becoming one of the most irresponsible users of taxpayers' money in my lifetime... and that's saying something.

@MHJeffrey027 @RoverFantasy @FootyonNine @CalTwomey Another hypothetical that isn’t true in most cases.
English

@Donv34 @RoverFantasy @FootyonNine @CalTwomey Then the players pull a Jason Horne-Francis, demand a trade after a year and the struggling club is back to square one
English

.@CalTwomey exclusively reveals the AFL is considering a 'radical change' to this year's draft that would see clubs who have a top 5 pick that's moved down due to a bid, be granted an EXTRA selection at the end of the first round.

@MurrayWatt What good is it when you give a tax cut but then lift taxes in other areas
English

Clubs would be given an extra draft pick at the end of the first round if their top-five selection is pushed back by an early bid under a proposal being considered by the AFL.

@Donv34 @AFL @CalTwomey Terrible idea.
The father son rule is special rule that is only in the AFL.
This should be protected for the history of our game.
The muddy part of the water is NGA and Academy players.
English

@Donv34 @FootyonNine @CalTwomey So after all the work Port did to turn Dougie Cochrane into an AFL machine they just have to sit there as Essendon come in a sweep him up?
English

@Donv34 @FootyonNine @CalTwomey No, why would teams invest in NGAs if they can't access the talent they develop out of it?
English

@AFL @CalTwomey how does that help? Access to the best still denied, but you get end of first round talent?
English

@bpw07 @FootyonNine @CalTwomey The draft system is a circus. Way more complicated than it needs to be but intentional so that they can skew the draft to support the expansion clubs.
English

@RoverFantasy @FootyonNine @CalTwomey The best players need to go to to the worst teams to speed up their rebound
English

@Donv34 @FootyonNine @CalTwomey There needs to be some consideration of the unintended consequences of a proposal, which the AFL have so far shown incapable of doing themselves.
English

@Donv34 @FootyonNine @CalTwomey Or - picks 1-5 the matching club has to actually pay a massive premium!
English

@RoverFantasy @FootyonNine @CalTwomey Let’s not talk hypotheticals. My proposal is superior to what has been floated.
English

@Donv34 @FootyonNine @CalTwomey Clubs may then just manipulate the draft by getting kids to play shit in order to drop their draft ranking, then the worse clubs are even worse off
English

@1116sen @WhateleySEN Multiple things can be true at the same time.
Saints can be whinging about a lot.
GC are a nepobaby.
Lions are just sooking hard they will lose players when clubs dangle a big carrot in front of them.
English

“‘The moaners’ would be a better name than the Saints”
Tony Cochrane takes aim at St Kilda and Ross Lyon over their “moaning” about Chris Fagan’s comments.

@7NewsMelbourne @tyra_stowers Interesting. People are scrambling to get an EV before the ships stop coming to the country with them.
English

Electric vehicle sales are surging with demand fuelled by record high petrol prices, inflation and interest rates. Motorists are scrambling to cut costs sending new and second-hand EV sales skyrocketing. @tyra_stowers
English

@akuberka @chinafutureclub Reducing excise wouldn’t stop the price from surging. The reason the price dropped during Covid was demand fell completely off a cliff and it got so bad the oil price went into the negatives.
English

@Donv34 @chinafutureclub an over inflated NDIS ! highest interest rates of any developed country . 0.59 $ per liter fuel excise that could be reduced like it was during covid .
English

@mrMDofficial @Black_Panthress @7NewsAdelaide @HanniHowe People aren’t panic buying. They are buying before prices surge even further which is a completely rational instinct. Money isn’t infinite to regular consumers. They can’t just print it like the government can.
English

Mate, government will ration fuel to prioritize food supply if it really got that bad, the only problem we have is the same people who panic bought toilet paper when covid hit and nobody could get toilet paper are doing the exact same thing with fuel. Blowing through inventory for no reason, creating demand shortages that exceed supply shortages.
English

Adelaide's fuel situation is getting worse - on top of the price shock, a dozen metro service stations have now run out of unleaded. The RAA is reminding motorists not to panic buy and let the distribution system catch up. @HanniHowe

@Terri_1987a I stopped and thought about it and still think the duopoly stinks
