To everyone mad in the replies: - The whole point of this is not to be 100% realistic. It's to show how it would've gone under a different system. Obviously, it's impossible to tell for sure how people would vote under this system, but it's unlikely to be radically different. - The list vote is better than constituency since the list is voting for a party, not one particular individual. It's not ideal for complete accuracy, but is it better to do list than constituency. - I couldn't have gone for an average between list and constituency because the greens didn't run in the vast majority of constituencies. In constituencies where the greens did win, they did similarly well in list vote. - for unionist parties, there isn't much of a tactical vote element in the list. Unionist parties got similar percentages in both the list and constituency. The only significant difference was the SNP/Green numbers, which is why we can be sure that this system produced a unionist majority. It's probable SNP gets a few more seats, but that would be mostly at expense of the Greens. - No, Scotland does not currently use the D'hondt method in the same way Wales does (the purpose of this tweet). Scotland uses FPTP seats and then additional seats using D'hondt where the number of FPTP seats won are taken into account. It still produces different outcomes when the system changes. To summarise, this is just for fun, meant to be somewhat informative based on real voting but shouldn't be taken as gospel.
